Quick fixes to make the MArina Bay circuit a much better show.[all corrections shown in red]

MAke Turn 1 a true hairpin to help increase over taking, hopefully side by side racing can continue from turn 1 thru turn 3

move turn 7 futher down 1 block to lengthen the straight and by clever placing of the concrete barriers make the corner more accute than 90 degrees to make it a possible passing zone. Relocating turn & also turns turn 8 & 9 into an ultra fast chicane not seen on any street circuit worldwide.

turn 10 needs reprofiling but I'm not yet sure what to do with it, any suggestions?

Straighten the entry into the stadium section making it faster into a series of S turn resembling the esses on the back straight of the surfer's paradice track in Austrailia, this gives the main grandstand someting to see other than just the cars dissappearing underneath them, also very imprsseive to see the F1 machines change direction on TV, like pool area in Monaco.

These changes would provide at least 2 bonafide passing oppertunites per lap and give the fans both at the track and watching TV a much better show. Any comment? Suggestions? Improvements?

hair pin at turn 1 not possible there is a change in land ownership almost striaght after the runoff as well as super elevation in the land profile. there is also a tunnel under T2 which can't be relocated. the option into T7 is a good one and the high speed 's' into St Andrews would be a copy of the east terrace 's' at the old Adelaide Circuit. this was actually the first option offered up to Singapore GP but they wanted to to have the converging runoffs also something never done in F1 let alone a street circtuit. T10 can't be changed as there is no runoff there is an elephant given to singapore right behind the runoff as well as a historic building and listed trees the chicane is designed to give a prescribed speed for the corner as well as getting the speeds right for anderson bridge which is narrow. T16 can't be straightened as there is a pump house right on the corner and is listed as private land so no can do either.

Of your posted ideas only the turn 7 one could be acheived (don't forget there are buildings on these blocks).

The main things I think they should look at is the surface - especially turns 5-7. The Pit Entry. And turn 10, just make it one corner.

I like the idea of the combination of esses in front of the main grandstand. Yes, it would be much better display for fans than simply seeing the cars go straight.

T7/8/9 changes might make straight line speeds too fast for avail. run-off space at the end of the straights. If the car has brake failure or rear wing failure at the end of these two straights, the result could be fatal.

You seem to have very intimate knowledge of the area, thanks for your input. Although they may not be able to extend the main straight in order to tighten turn 1 they need to find a way to get it done in order for it to be a ligitmate passing zone.

Given that T16 cant be changed, the esses in front of the grandstand would still be possible, but not as impressive with the lower entry speed.

Any ideas on how to fix the pit lane entry and exit problems other posters has noted? I haven't any adequate overhead shots to asses the situation there.

Damn you and your safety constraints, I did consider that they wound be entering T10 at an increased rate, but I think they can handle it, wouldnt it be worth it to see these cars go thru that T8/9 chicane at impressive speeds?

Not on a street circuit with concrete walls all around. In this situation I value driver safety over impressive viewing.

I respectfully disagree, there would still be riskier parts of the track.

the main reason there was no passing into T1 was because there are some heavy bumps into T22 not shown on tv that meant alternate lines into the T22/23 weren't possible. to fix pit enrty is very hard because the Singapore flyer owns the land just behind the concrete but something may be able to be done at pit exit but I refer you to when Alonso came out pit exit with a 2 car fight right behind him and there were no problems if you were to push the exit around to T2 you may cause bigger problems due to loss of sight of approaching cars and there is a giant column for the over head roads there anyway.

I like the idea about the esses in front of the main grandstand. But you can't put walls there close up like in Surfers' Paradise back straight because cars crashing into walls at 200km/h+ at 90 degrees angle is a bit unsafe for european racing  But they can put some notable curbs like in the current turn 10.
BTW, is that elephant in turn 10 high enough to have F1 cars running under it? That would definitely be an unseen thing for street circuits :)

I dont remember there ever being walls to define the surfer's paradice esses on the back straight, just the usual concrete barriers that line the entire track with FIA type curbs to define the esses.

Ha running thru an elephant, as long as they have an in-trunk camara.

I have an interesting minor alteration to the circuit I'd like to suggest. Its debatable but if you notice at the Anderson bridge only one of the lanes is in use it would be an interesting prospect I would think that if they used both the sides. Basically the road spits into 2 and then rejoins to one. This may present an overtaking opportunity and also something new and interesting to truly make the circuit unique(Its night and all but the lights are so good does it really make a difference). If Spa is off the calender next year and Marina Bay stays I'll be pissed.

I thought of one too, make turn 1 and 2 into a double apex single corner, that'd allow more speed through, probably making an overtake point, if not just allow them to carry more speed instead of the chicane they have now.

Your idea would be most entertaining, probably disallowed on safety grounds. Imagine a car hitting the middle partition or being made to hit the middle partition somehow.
