Stay at mclaren"s" if your contract got renewed, why go to STR? Its a useless team that wont be around after 2010...

What do you actually do?

Am I allowed to call BS on this?

It does seem like a strange thing to be discussing on a public forum...

Edit, I retract my previous statement. Sorry for the vitriolic comment, it was wrong of me.

I'm also considering a change of job. I'm currently Viceroy for the 7th Galactic Empire, but I've been offered a job as President for the 8th moon of Jupiter. The pay is about the same, but the latter is closer to home

don't worry goony the fact is most here would love to work for an F1 team & are jealous cos you have that opportunity & privilege.

When can you start contract negotiations with Macca? can you start them early and use the STR offer as a bargaining tool?

is the STR gig in Italy at their factory? would that cause language barriers/family issues?

I ´d say Italy is really going to please your wife very soon .. rest assured.
unfortunatelly she might find herself an Italien gigolo as you will not leave the factory very often ,in case they retain Buemi and Alg...
I´m not in F1 but work for an Italien company ..

I don´t think the big teams can retain permanent staff of your level as they need to reduce next year.
On the other hand STR,lotus need to hire and I guess now is the time to look for a new place to work .
AND with Macs already part of your resume I don´t think adding half a year at reduced income will do any good to your prospects..(why did the guy stay at lower rate and worse conditions, was he worth the money at all??).
But going away to get better salary ,better position is showing that you want to go forward in life , doesn´t it? Going to italy only shows you are flexible, also good
for future ...
btw ..as a trackside repair guy I don´t think the work is really that fun ...and your wife will again have to look elsewhere.. maybe..

goony,

Better to be an ant's head than a lion's tail, you have already told me this!

thats my opinion

If your a laminator, i guess that means you make CF bits a pieces?

Surely at McLaren they will be making lots more stuff and you will be more busy - and find that good?
