For the CFD test it may be easier to pick someones as a standard.
so everyone must use the same dimensions for engine, gearbox cooling and air intake fule.
everything else down to F1 rules.
solid boxes could be placed inside the standard to represent these parts.
these parts can be moved but the size cannot be edited.

and create a standard file format. for whoever is running it.
based on whatever app they are using.

if someone has an old car made, maybe a basic car before you added dd wings etc.

Great Idea.

Solid Boxes is good -it would be easy to see where anyone has "cheated" as the boxes would protrude through the bodywork.... you'd also need to have a standard sized driver to make the chassis for.

To make it totally fair we'd all need to use the same tyre models too as we've probably all got slightly different shapes....

I think everyone should use the same model for an engine, and have the same volume fuel tank. Also we should specify a minimum area for radiator inlets and cooling outlets. I dont think we should have a standard gearbox as it affects the ddd and teams design their own.

EDIT: i also agree that we should have standard tyres and a standard driver size aswell

i can agree with that, though for me it is impossible to go conform the regs as ZModeler doesnt count in mm(actually it doesnt even count sizes etc.)

Solid boxes sound good.
I think we should start a new topic "F1 technical CAR CFD test competitionand" in Aerodynamics, chassis and tyres corner and start makeing some numbers up.
I can provide the tyres.

Yeah opening a topic would be a good idea. I also think that for the fuel tank we should define a set volume, instead of a box

Naaa... with no CFD or windtunnel(!) any changes/updates would just be guesses.... would rather spend my time making other models....

OK, Couldn't resist putting the Red-Bull style nose on it... and sorting out the ride-height issue!!!
