Force India. They were told by the FIA to change their logo because the FI they were using looked too much like the F1 logo. So....they changed the "I" to a lowercase "i."

Re: Introduce yourself here

Post

This is a repost as I said hello in the wrong part of the forum.

Hello folks, great forum. Just letting people know who and what I am. I have a small tuning business in Ireland. We have done a little racing and competed for the first time in 2008 in the Irish Time Attack Series. We hoped we could compete strongly and hold our head up high, and use it as a stepping stone into motorsport. We done better than expected, with one of the smallest budget's, and won the championship. I am an Engineer by trade, and spent a few years at Cosworth Technology in Wellingborough UK, before retuning to Ireland. I also helped out at Jedi Racing, in hill climb and F750 while living there.

The car we compete in is a Lancer Evo 4 RS. It was running 397 bhp, standard transmission and a twin plate Excedy clutch, Dunlop D02. Spent most of my time developing suspension, as Mondello Park is very tight and technical track, not a power circuit. It was the cheapest, lowest power car among the front runners. The driver is very good and gives very good feedback, which is a massive help. We also ran an Impreza STI for a customer and got him into 3rd in the series. We only got his car after the second round. This year we have increased our power to 481, and lost alot of weight. We have fitted a flat floor with an adjustable diffuser. The driver is pushed back as far as possible. We started of last Sunday week by being the fastest car all day, and 0.17 off the lap record, so looking good for 2009.

Thanks folks, I hope I can match some of the tech comments I've read here, some are of very high quality, and hope to learn something as well.

Hello
Im Abhishek Sampat, from Bombay, India. Im studying at Coventry University,UK. Im in my second year of BENG Automotive Engineering Design. I love F1, been following it since over a decade, and since the only name worth remembering in the last 10years was Michael Schumacher (just my opinion :D ), he was and still is my favourite. Ferrari is my team of choice, am im quietly confident that theyll be back from this slump in form. Iv been reading this site for over a year now and i love it. Im the University STudents Union newspaper's Motoring Editor and im starting my placement year next year with JLR.
Hope i can contribute now instead of just read.
Cya!
Hope for a good shanghai!

Hello, My name is Paul. :)
I have been an F1 fan since Ayrton had a V12, and have followed F1 avidly throughout the 90s and 00s. I got semi side-tracked for about 4 years (latter MS reign, after Mika gave up, o so boring) watching Motogp bikes, but now I'm back baby. Why, because now F1 has more over-taking than Motogp, would you believe. I mean, who wants to see guys ride/drive around a track with their throttle on the max waiting for the TC to kick in- and on top of that they want to get paid for the pleasure of it! We ought to black ball those Williams engineers for inventing TC. I hate it! Well done to the evil twins for banning TC.

Well done to the evil twins for having the balls to listen to the OWG and make the cars better for slipstreaming. I remember Williams (they were sporting Rothmans colours, so I think it was 94) trying out their car without a rear wing in order to see how it would run- (and making a point at the same time I guess).

I am 33, a South African, who emigrated to Wales in mid 90s and qualified as a Mechanical Engineer. I spent 10 years in soggy Wales before following the family down to Spain (5 years now). As mech. eng. work is sparse down here I have had to get into building services, but I fear the grey matter is slowly turning to mush. Need to challenge myself!

Anyways, F1 (and MotoGP) is one outlet I have which keeps me from staring at the ceiling and rocking slowly while humming. Love the web-site. Gosh some of you blokes are clever. Keep up the good work.

One more thing, theres got to still be time for Valentino. He's only turned 30. How old was Mansell when he won? Don't let him go rallying, he'll be wasted there. He is awesome, and will bring in some amazing passion to the sport.

By the way, would anyone have a pic of that Williams with no rear wing? I saw it in an Autosport mag (I think) #-o . Can't find it now though.

Re: Introduce yourself here

Hi all,

I'm from Barbados and was more of a WRC fan but was converted after being in the UK 2007-2008 for an MSc in Automotive Engineering where we had to compete in Formula Student. Currently back home where I work as a rally mechanic and only yesterday tried tuning motorcycle suspension for track racing. Main interests are in vehicle dynamics, datalogging and design so i hope to return to the UK later this year to work in motorsport. Eventually I hope I can move up to WRC or F1.

This site is great as I read some of the tech articles but the stuff found in the forums just browsing it yesterday convinced me to join it. Hope I can learn and make some contribution along the way.

Hello everyone.

I'm Timo and I'm from Finland. Unlike most of the Finns, I'm a huge fan of Fernando Alonso and also Renault. :) I don't care that much about Kimi or Heikki..

Well anyway I have been reading this forum for a sometime and now I finally registered. Nice to meet you all.

Welcome to the board!

It will be good to have some "Finnput" on what we are talking about, that isn't automatically about Mika, Heikki, or Kimi.

Well, welcome, Abhishek, Paul, Jiel, Timo, Matija. Nice to have you on board, this forum is yours to enjoy. It's really great to find together so many people moved and motivated by racing. I hope you stick around, some of your countries "need" more representatives, give them a voice, please.

Callum, you have the same offer from me as the one you received from Tomislav. Send any picture and we will "avatarize" it. Better yet, we can help you to learn how to do it, it will be really simple for a guy like you.
