I don't know why I bother... Maybe I like you too much:

You can see Max's throttle trace isn't 100%, maybe 98%, in fact it drops right when LEC's speed is passing above his. LEC goes full throttle after Max is off throttle and on brakes already.

I don't think the throttle trace is very linear and I think there's still space after 100% that we get no resolution on. On top of it your statement that Max was 100% is factually incorrect as clearly Ferrari keeps the throttle down, goes on later but stays on later.

Not only this shows a different interpretation of the corner, but clearly Max can push the car a bit more.

As I said already, this has nothing to do with engine mode, just Max not pushing.

Sorry wrong image pasted in the post above:

This is the right corner but with SAI instead.

The throttle trace isn't even 100% for SAI (you can see VER stuff above SAI), but in this case the total flatness of Max's trace looks like data is missing for his trace in that corner.

I said sorry... Made a mistake on both corner and pairing. I posted the right one later.

Okay I see, I read sequentially so I started replying to the first before seeing the 2nd...

In any case, it's possible as you suggest that the data is just crap. If so, then my conclusions are tenuous.

Honestly seeing a lot of cars struggling with understeer and mid corner snaps.

Mercedes so-so on the first lap with the soft in #FP2 . Large deltas in the esses and throughout the first sector, they even lift a little in turn 8. Similar findings for Ferrari but it is with the Medium so there is explanation. However, we are only at the beginning, everything should be taken with a pinch of salt JapaneseGP

Williams seem disproportionately good at front-limited tracks. The first sign was at Australia where Albon was on track for a p8 on merit or thereabouts at the point of the season when they felt they had the worst car.

Then there was Silverstone, then Zandvoort and now here where they look good again.

With the soft the snake of #Verstappen is galactic. We notice an error of #Leclerc at turn 1 and one of Max at the hairpin. A little "lean" power curve for #RedBull . #Ferrari anyway good in T2 #JapaneseGP
To me the lower engine mode is obvious

Yeah it's absurd. They're building the setup around protecting the tyres I think. Then they'll use the rubber at the hairpin as per usual
