Why are the measuring the flow going under the wing? Surly that wouldn’t tell them anything about the performance of the wing it’s self? I would have thought It would be used to check something further up wind of the sensor?

Correlation to windtunnel and CFD in the same locations.

Probably to check about the flow that interacts with the flow that comes from the diffuser?

The speed going under the wing, relative to top surface, is what makes a "downfirce" for an inverted wing profile such as these car.

The greater the difference between the two (put crudely) the more the wing exerts direct load.

That doesn't look like a max downforce beam wing for Mexico.

Flow under the wing is the most important thing in the field of aerodynamics. It is generally considered normal to pay critical attention to the longer side of the wing. On the longer side the flows are faster, which increases the rarefaction in this area, but also increases the risk of airflow stall. This is the principle on which the airplane wing works. :)

Equally interesting they have moved away from a round diffuser roof to a more squarer one. In 2022 it was thought the round roof was allowind redbull better downforce. Mclaren is showing here that it is not all about the number of kicks and a roun roof! It's more upstream that the performance lies.

The RB floor is similar in having less steps currently, I believe.

The opposite. They've gone from a square roof on the diffuser corners to rounded ones in the Austria update.

Chwkc the Mexico photos. The roof is more squared off.

Does anyone have pics of the beam wing config used at COTA?

No matter, FIA docs show nothing has changed.
