[Green Notebook] [Joe Saward]: ''Another rumour that has popped up in recent days, as the result of a possible road car deal between McLaren and BMW, has been the suggestion that the Munich firm might come back to F1, in order to compete head-on with rivals Mercedes, Porsche and Audi.''

"McLaren and BMW have long history back to the F1 supercar programme in the 1990s. McLaren does not have the money to do its own F1 engine programme, so perhaps falling into bed with BMW might be a good idea."

Once again reiterating these are rumors... but would be pretty cool
Interesting, but at my last count, Joe Saward has only gotten one thing right, but then again, you never know.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Would be fun to see Herta in F1. Just to see an American driver, having taken another path to F1 aside from the traditional F3-F2.

With that said, I still think Ricciardo is a great driver given in a different car. The Mclaren has been so peculiar for serveral seasons. In a negative sense. They don't seem to be able to sort it out. Like the Red Bull RB15-16-16B yet without upside of inherent speed. Even Norris acknowledges it.

At times there is very little between Norris and Ricciardo. And then suddenly there are races where Ricciardo is nowhere. It's strange.

hopefully the new parts they are testing bring some good performance for France, races with upgrades always excite me :)
Where do they test new parts?
according to PhillipM, on a filming day before France, Daniel did the Pirelli tyre test yesterday, I believe Lando is in the car today, maybe doing a filming day today..?

Great stuff- I wanted to hear that fire burning in DR and I know he will come good again- be it here or elsewhere in the paddock.

I was only thinking at the weekend, I wonder where he’d be in the WDC had Ferrari signed him instead of Sainz. He’d have loved that high DF Ferrari I reckon.

Anyway, let’s get this McLaren car up there fighting those reds and blues!

Good, maybe some of the members here will stop their pointless, unfounded speculation on replacements for Daniel!

I don’t think its proves much of anything. We’ve seen similar statements from teams and athletes numerous times with the opposite results shortly after.

Until 2023 testing, I won’t say anything is set in stone.

yeah right, "some members" and 3/4 of F1 community everywhere
Good to see his statement, I hope he does well however long he'll stay with McLaren.

Save your hate propoganda for the Autosport forum bro, it's mostly the clueless leading the even more clueless over there when it comes to Ricciardo contract and exit talk etc. Should fit right in.

Yeah nice to hear. Pretty much heard it from both bosses and Dan now but you can bet the clickbait rags and fans will keep flogging the Ricciardo is gone dead horse for a while yet.

Luckily the team look at the bigger picture and sum of all parts involved in detail including experience at championship winning teams like RBR. Besides that the car is not currently what either driver or the team wanted and as Ricciardo said they are all working their asses off to make it better, however long it takes, which is hopefully sooner rather than later

I REALLY hope he ran that post past Zak first, to avoid an Alex Palou-CGR like debacle

Why, he's just repeating what Zak said yet again about him definitely being there in 2023 only a couple of weeks ago to an Aussie Motorsports journo in a recent sit down interview and what Seidl has said a zillion times in the last few months. As Zak revealed he and Ricciardo are WhatsApp buddies and message and laugh all the time. There's obviously a strong relationship between them. Palou is just joining the Indycar team.

Gotta laugh out how many more times people are going to keep getting it wrong everytime McLaren test a young driver in the previous car (which is just a normal part of their current operations) or change personnel in their other motorsport teams. Guess that doesn't sell stories or get enough clicks
