The Schumacher red looks like pink almost. The SF71H had the perfect shade of red, that or slightly darker would be perfect to me

I thing from the Schumacher era the cars looked a slightly different colour depending on which region's TV filmed the event.
Possibly transfer between NTSC/PAL or whatever affected it?
Or maybe I just had a poor TV set at the time

yeah colours are too subjective to camera calibration and set up. the 2018 cars looked on great on TV.

Wow this red really pops! I viewed this same post on my OLED screen mobile phone, an I am now viewing it on my IPS monitor. The Red looks crazy bright now! I think it is because the monitor is calibrated for DCI P3 colour gamut, but most Web images are sRGB gamut. So the monitor is showing more red than it should. I think the phone might produce more realistic colours but I gotta check.

I guess if Ferrari named the F1-75 in honor of the 75th anniversary of their car 125s, then the color can be close to it.

I've read somewhere that indeed they wanted a colour like that!
I really really hope that 2022 is Ferrari come back, at least 4 wins in the year, we need Ferrari strong

Didn't the lighter red get chosen for TV reasons. It stands out better, or something like that. I'm reminded of a quote from Chris Rea where he asked his dad what colour the Ferraris were (watching on black and white TV). "Red, son, blood red". That 125's red looks like blood red to me. The current cars don't. I like that darker red, I have to say.

That choice because of TV was made in 2019? Or earlier? I remember SF90 was a matte pale red, the most nondescript color in their palette.

I remember when they changed back in the late 1990s (?) I think. They went to a lighter red from their earlier darker shades. It was a while ago so can't remember exactly. They have changed the red a few times over the years.

Can they do some kind of multi tone red? where it peaks bright like the 2018 red from most angles, but tapers off into a darker shade of red. They sort of tried to do this in an artificial way with the matt paint last season but if they went back to gloss it could be beautiful. I kinda wish F1 mandated gloss paint on the cars, matte can look good but gloss paint looks elegant and classy.
