Haas VF-22

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Hmmm indeed 😂😂
It took them only a few months to copy it... Let's see what Gunther has to say about that:
"If someone says we copied, I would say ‘Why would we copy a Williams?’ Not to be disrespectful, but it’s a completely different concept and they’re slower than us. So if you copy, you copy the best, and right now it’s Ferrari and Red Bull. We have the same engine as Ferrari, the same gearbox and we have the same suspension. They win races, so why copy others? One plus one still equals two.”
Not everywhere Gunther... Not everywhere..

images from Albert, the white paint really does a great job at hiding curvature

Well now is clear not even close to Alpine. I mean design wise.

Don't know what to think about it. Looks like the copied Ferraris sidepods, but ran out of money before the bodywork of the "bathtube" gets close to the rear-suspension...Ferraris "bathtube" seems to guide the air much more towards the rear of the car, while Haas' just stops...curious if this works.

Good work from the team. This design doesn't look to be simple to master, seeing how no other team chose this direction after Ferrari launched their car.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

The Haas’ sidepod were already relatively close to Ferrari’s

Obviously very "inspired" by Ferrari. But this interpretation does not have the sort of "kick up" at the end of the sidepodes that for now only Ferrari has.

Yes, HAAS also has that Ferrari kick-up, just colour scheme disguises it nicely.

It is not a carbon copy although pretty close. The HAAS has a dent on the sides that curves inwards towards the back and the dip on top i believe is a bit shallower than the Ferrari but that might be because of the white paint masking it.
Overall it is a slightly modified Ferrari sidepod. I am curious whether they will make it work.

It's funny what great lengths teams go to hide their work when all you have to do is paint it white...The Haas livery (or lack of), disguises the Ferrari sidepod greatly. At first I didn't think they were anything alike, but from the right angle you see the sidepod is practically the same.

It follows the Ferrari concept but not that extreme
