AlphaTauri AT04

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Does anyone know what Yuki's issue with the brakes was? Did they get too cold?
It sounded like a continuation of last year's issues.

Thanks, also a bit on Autosport about it today

He said: “The brake issues we have are from probably last year. It happened more often towards Pierre rather than me. But this happens to me more [this season].

“Literally, I don't feel any efficiency from braking. It just doesn't warm up, doesn't feel any efficiency so you cannot push as much as I want to in the rain conditions.

“Obviously, that makes the tyres colder, it just goes worse and worse.

I'm curious as to why both drivers call it "efficiency".

The Alpha update illustrates an very underutilized allowance within the sidepod regulations. Can you guess what it is?

Well we have a good view of the cross section of a current spec F1 rear wing now

Not sure how this sort of RW endplate join is beneficial to AT.

AlphaTauri with four upgrades

AlphaTauri unpacks with no less than four performance upgrades.
One to the front wing,
one to the nose of the front wing,
one to the floor body
and finally another upgrade to the rear wing.
Daniel Ricciardo, on his comeback, will therefore board a car that is in many ways different from that of his predecessor Nyck de Vries.

I suspect that the join is the detail of interest. It looks like they are able to now support some lateral expansion (outwash) near the tip of the flap. This could be aimed at increasing the load of the flap. Alpine have the same detail now.

In the old spec, this kind of lateral expansion is "contained" or not possible:
