So. Perez strategy. Start him on the grid on hard tyres, and fish for a late red flag?🤔
He might just bag a podium too. Slap on mediums, use the mega DRS on the straight, and wait for safety car.
I don't think RB has the mega-drs with the high df wing

I heard it´s forecasted rain for the race. It would be hilarious if Ocon wins it, and if not that, at least Alonso winning would bring one hell of a story

This is what just happened, you apparently missed it:

I didn’t miss anything. He clipped the barrier T15, and then drove into the wall on the finishing line. The RB has been the best car in S3, and he was bailed out by the straight line speed advantage.
This is a technical forum so you are going to get people who are capable of using telemetry so you can't just make up facts without expecting them to be verified.

RB don't have an advantage on the straights here this weekend: https://www.f1-tempo.com/. There is not more than 1 km/h difference in top speeds between RB and AM with AM being ahead by 1km/h in one straight, and RB leading by 1km/h in another. Virtually indiscernible.
Straight line speed advantage != higher top speed. Being a technical forum, watch the side by side lap comparison with telemetry.

Ver and Ocon were the luckiest of the bunch at T13 and it showed. Some others were not, as is the case each year at Monaco.

This qualifying session tells us that Alonso is the better driver. Verstappen risked everything just to get ahead in a much better car.

Anyone have links to Alonso's P2 lap onboard?

It doesn’t tell us that at all. Huge Alonso fan here by the way.
It’s already been mentioned loads that this track doesn’t suit the RB19 at all relative to other circuits. So he had to wring the neck of the car to get that lap time out of it. If you followed the sessions you can clearly see the usual gap just not being there. I would say 9 out of 10 times that was ALOs pole.

.
Alonso did so too. "I am driving like an animal." :D
.
“I don’t think so,” he said when asked if he tried a different approach in qualifying.
“I think both laps in Q3 we were increasing the level of risk to an uncomfortable level
let’s say I think both laps were a little bit over the limit sometimes but everything went fine.
.
I am very curious to see who will be the first through the first corner this afternoon. As long as they don't touch each other!

I don't agree. Not at this circuit.

That's a heck of a call to make. There have been some good qualifying sessions over the years. But it was certainly a great "down to the wire" qually.
Can you share one? I'll dig up that replay today. For sure! 🥰🥰
Monaco '88 for a start. May not be a last corner nail biter like today, but by Jiminy it was a great performance by Senna.
Or maybe the 2012 pole of an 43 old rusty Schumi who set it on an 5th/6th fastest car that year rather than the fastest one Senna have had that day, don't you think? 😉

I think Ocon doesn't need much rain to win this. Verstappen and Alonso colliding in turn 1 would probably be enough.

Panis started from 14th back then, so that was a bit of a different story.

Windsor is hit or miss, but i think he has nailed this time.

Also this comparison with slow down moments.

Verstappen's car takes the curb at the second Swimming pool much better and then he has a great front end despite a shallower angle into Rascasse.
