With the threat of rain tomorrow, I'd hate to be on a lower downforce spec.

it also seems to be Qualifying only which could be wet, and even there it's only a 30% chance. So unless this changes dramatically, I doubt it will (or should) influence any setup choices.

According to Ventusky on Friday dry until 6 PM. Then is starts to rain a bit and thunderstorms a couple of hours.

They used it at Suzuka and were competitive in terms of topspeed with other teams. Their medium and high downforce wings have not been optimized for the upgrades brought towards the end of the season and so they brought a medium-high wing that would work at Zandvoort, Singapore, Suzuka, Qatar, COTA, Mexico and Brazil. They have a Monaco wing that they don't run anymore

The wing on the car @ Zandvoort (friday, but not used in the race) and now @ Brazil is definitely not high downforce

Here's Stella on that rear wing:
“So yesterday [Friday] we had a new rear wing, which is a slightly lower drag, lower downforce than the maximum downforce wing that we had before and that we used in Hungary.
“The wing we had yesterday is suitable for this track in dry conditions, not necessarily in wet conditions. So we will see today what wing we are going to use for the remainder of the weekend.
If the wing was high downforce, it wouldn't be chosen against due to rain.. They also didn't use this rear wing @ COTA, Mexico, Singapore because the other wing configuration is higher downforce.

If you look at the main plane of the Merc, you can see the difference, the Mclaren wing is doing less in that area. Mclaren often test it alongside the Medium wing as they overlap in performance, or at least sit very close to each other at the ends of their setup spectrum. This "winglet" on the top element is also more efficient than what they ran in Japan, for less DF.

The Merc wing is their High DF Monaco wing, we are not using our Monaco wing here, nor the High DF wing that was ultimately run at Zandvoort in the wet.

They didn't run this wing in Zandoort and were quoted as saying it didn't produce enough DF for the race.

I think that the wing is more configurable then previous wings and the range it can pass through takes it from the mid range medium through to the lower high DF range, and hence sits inbetween the medium and High DF wings, but is not medium, and not high! Take a look at the Monaco wings, Haas ran a beast, we didn't even produce a Max DF wing for Monaco, just the High DF wing. This wing is much smaller than many of the Monaco wings, smaller than our own Monaco wing.
