Yes a jump-start is a jump-start ONLY if it is recorded as a jump-start by the official FIA policing means and by nothing else.
So if a sensor fails, a driver can get away with a jump start that everybody can spot?
There was no jump-start detection system or any part of it failure/that failed. The FIA determining factor the governing body use to police/detect starts is the transponder on the car and the sensor imbedded on the starting grid ground. The FIA confirmed that Norris forward movement did not trigger the official jump-start detection system, the sole criterion for detecting a jump-start.
he's asking a hypothetical question.

One rule that they should bring back asap as when you get a penalty you have to serve it in 3 laps or you are out

That's for a drive through or stop and go, but how would this work with a 5 sec penalty?

5s penalty should go.

Ridiculous that a wheel to wheel touch from Magnussed was 10s but unsafe release from Checo was 5s.

Agreed. Especially when team gave checo a red light and he chose to go. But there are new directives this season about penalty severity. passing off track and keeping advantage = 10s now rather than 5s etc

Yeah, I am not happy with that. What if you attempt, you get defended very hard, slightly to little room is given even (or way) and you just are out of the track. Bam, 10mseconds, you looose several places if in the midfield. So not worth to even attempt it. Right now the drivers are not fully aware, but after some more penalties it will sink in.

Why not indeed just say, give it back within 3 laps. You can always give a heavier penalty if the situation calls for it.
