Sauber still in the dark about Perez' Sepang incident
The Sauber of the Sergio Perez was penetrated by a yet unidentified piece of debris during the race in Malaysia the past weekend. And as of yet they are still mystified as to what it was despite blaming one of the Toro Rosso machines for losing a piece of ballast that damaged the electronics and nearly got to the seat.
Now the Faenza based team has asked the FIA's Charlie Whiting to investigate the entire grid about whether any of them came up short of ballast or other car parts. Although Sauber now reckons that it might have been a drain cover, according to team principal Beat Zehnder latest statements.
But regardless of what or how it happened the damage is done and Perez has needed a new tub for the Chinese GP, costing the team thirty thousand euros to ship from Switzerland.
