What if Mosley wins/loses the vote of confidence tomorrow?
Tomorrow, the Extraordinary General Assembly of the FIA will be held at its headquarters in Paris, where a vote of confidence will be held to decide if President Max Mosley is fit for purpose. Although several member clubs have publicly declared to vote agains Mosley, there are 222 people who can vote tomorrow so nobody knows what the outcome will be.
If Mosley wins the vote tomorrow, he will have a “victory” press conference. After that he will continue as president but will leave high-profile and ceremonial duties to one his deputies. It is Mosley's aim to avoid embarrassing heads of state, politicians and leading figures in motor sport who do not want to be seen in his company.
The vote could also lead to a fragmentation of the FIA with clubs breaking away. It might even lead to a crisis in Formula One as the majority of teams, sponsors and venue hosts do not want to do business with Mosley.
What if Mosley loses the vote?Mosley promised to resign if he loses the vote of confidence during the General Assembly. His place will be taken by Michel Boeri, head of the FIA Senate, until a new EGM is held within two months, but not more than four months, from tomorrow.
