At this stage it would appear that the penalties ironically helped Max, put him on the clean side and took Bottas completely out of contention, instead of a possible 1-2 for Merc it'll be just seven points.

Seems like max was finding some great pace, but was his damage from moving out of alonso way or abusing the kerbs and damaging his wing? It seemed like his pace fell off sometime after he avoided alonso, so I’m thinking his damaged his wing on a kerb

exactly, Lewis is just cruising, that 0.5sec advantage in Q can't be just because they sacrificed the race setup, they almost never do this, Merc are clearly a better car for these last few races, probably took out those sand bags they were carrying for the drama show

I don't see any chance for Max here unless a full safety car comes out, and even then if Max magically gets pats Lewis, I think it will take 4-5 laps for Lewis to get his place back

Thanks, it was still a terrible start from Bottas no matter what the circumstances, he's made up some places now finally.

But Verstappen had a great start from the clean side. Bottas messed up his start which was then probably/likely emphasized by the dirty side ... i'd say that's a fair assessment?

ok, RB are done, they can't hold the candle to Merc, couple laps yes, but not on race distance, those tyres just don't last, and Lewis was slowly extending his lead lap after lap

It was a magnificent start. I think everyone was being a bit careful not to get in Verstappen or Hamilton’s way and cause an accident so well done everyone.

Interesting that Merc might be one stopping Bottas. Could come into play later in the race if Hamilton and both RBR are two stopping.
