Red Bull RB18 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

There's absolutely nothing below those sidepod inlets!
Seems a really huge undercut!
I think they are same style side pods as the AT03

From the angle of the latest clear picture, can't really see anything 'special' on the car.

Looking forward to more pictures of the sidepods and rear.

Same.

I think this is going to look like a cousin to the Mclaren

Yeah, checking again the AT03 and you might be right. Not so square but same style of undercut

Is there any doubt that the car that went though the shakedown is not the RB18? Why not open the RB18 thread.

Typical Adrian Newey design philosophy.
Anorexic bodywork.

Nose box appears slimmest so far but could be an illusion with the dark colour.

Have they managed to create a boomerang wing with the floor entry?

The engine cover looks slim and side pod inlets are Aston-like. Probably double floor side pod style too?

looking at the other spy pics the sidepods seem to slope down

This. Looks very similar to the AT that I can see.

To me it looks like the lower sidepod lip (or whatever you wanna call it) is significantly further forward than the upper one (?) which could result in a slim cooling opening when looking from the front

Is there anyone within RB’s design team who has experience with front pull rod suspension?

Apologies for my incredible technical doodle skills unleashed upon the MS Paint. This is how I see the sidepods openings. The dotted green line denotes the edge of am imaginary flat surface of a typical sidepod inlet. The stuff above it is really behind it.

Probably the rear element of the upper suspension arm is hiding behind the front one in this picture, which would give it some pretty extreme anti-dive geometry.
Yes, if that is the case then the anti-dive is extreme. Wouldn't such suspension also be extremely hard on the bumps?
