Red Bull RB18 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It's hard to judge by these photos but it also seems to me that the sidepod inlets are pretty far back as compared to other cars.

What is the rear leg of the lower suspension arm connecting to? Some sort of keel perhaps?

they've deliberately blurred out the front of the side pods
Yes, they blurred it out ..... a comparison of TEZOS decal on showcar & spyshot.... could it be a 2nd hole under the sidepod inlet?

given their issues last season, one would think they would have over engineered a new actuator.

Ok I edit this as my previous speculation was incorrect I think. That is definitely an interesting suspension geometry.
If it hasn't been edited (photoshopped by RBR) those are certainly some radical control arms. Interesting to read the discussion about them. :)

Can the top arm be something like the lower arm of W06? The loads would be enormous though.

The Alfa too has agressive anti dive top wishbones

Top bone does indeed look like a single element, can’t call it a wishbone than, but just bone. Maybe even one piece left to right without pivot points? A carbon leave spring?
But just suppose it weren't hypothetical.

Bandit1216:
That’s exactly what I was thinking although not carbon but steel leaf, with the pull-rod component in place as fine tuning.

It also looks like the rear lower wishbone is connected to a structure that looks like the beginning of the splitter above the "plank".
But just suppose it weren't hypothetical.
