I have to say, the high front wings really do spoil the aesthetic of the cars
If one believes that form should follow function (an engineering direction rather than a design one), then the high noses are nice because they have a function. Unlike the swept front wings which are solely a "make it look fast" sop to FOM's marketing department.morefirejules08 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 22:21I have to say, the high front wings really do spoil the aesthetic of the cars
Haven't they also changed the layout of the track?dans79 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 22:03AMG.Tzan wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 21:58Nice thing is, it's only Day 1 and cars are around 3 secs slower than last year's pole! I presume by May's Spanish GP they'll already be close if not faster than 2021!
Strange thing is how these cars make up this laptime compared to 2021. It seems that they are quite a bit slower in the narrow-slow parts of the track because of the increased weight but they manage to gain back time through fast corners and straights!
What do you think?? Will they manage to beat 2021 lap times by the end of the test??
Personally I wouldn't take the sector 3 times very seriously yet. It's cold, and the teams are probably still working on what their optimal suspension set-ups will be.

Speed difference with, and without DRS.BlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 21:07
Just to add a bit of context if there are for some reason people reading into the times
So your suggesting RedBull didn't use DRS today? I'm sure I saw the car with it open?godlameroso wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 22:53Speed difference with, and without DRS.BlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 21:07

Alonso had no DRS and had similar speed. This was the straight after turn 9.NathanOlder wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 22:57So your suggesting RedBull didn't use DRS today? At least the neutral section is retired now...Just_a_fan wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 22:27If one believes that form should follow function (an engineering direction rather than a design one), then the high noses are nice because they have a function. So McLaren was already pushing the car to its limits and even so they didn't top the charts!
OMG! McLaren is gonna be so slow this year!
