Is this like the yearly "AT/Toro Rosso looks great could be a great upset" and then they finish 6th/7th?

Quali Raw pace
Top Tier - Ferrari, Merc, Redbull, Mclaren
Between - Alpha Tauri, Williams, Aston Martin, Alpine
FInal - Alfą Romeo, Haas

But points will be given on Sunday and this year will put emphasis on driver skill, patience, tactics and recklessness.

Top Tier- Charles, Max, Hamilton, Russell
High class - Lando, Sainz,
Talented racers- Fernando, Ricciardo,
Decent on the day - Gasly, Albon, Ocon, Perez, Stroll, Vettel, Bottas
Average- Tsunoda, Schumacher, Latifi
Floor sweeper- Zhou, Mazepin

I'm just happy that we sit here not automatically thinking that it's a Merc/RBR runaway season, again.

Shhh, don't tell anyone.

I'm really hoping for a tight fight at the front between 5-6 teams.

I'm not sure many people could handle that now. The last time we had thats was a decade ago, and the fanbase was a lot different then!

Many fans would disagree regarding Fernando and Sebastian
I would not put Russell up there I have some doubt on his race pace.

Both of them are past thier prime sadly and the new guards are taking over.
Agree Russell race pace is a question mark but gave him the benefit as he is peaking and only going to get better.

I agree with your analysis even if some fans are arguing about the facts they've not got good machinery recently

My guess is :

Ferrari
Red Bull

Mercedes
McLaren
Haas
Alpha Tauri
Aston Martin
Alpine
Alfa Romeo

Williams

I think Ferrari and Red Bull will be ahead of the other teams, followed by a midfield that is closely together with Williams being fastest and behind all the other teams.

Ferrari seems to have more knowledge about the ground-effect cars, as on the very first second of testing, they ran their car with a very stiff suspension. This tells me that they knew that porpoising will be a problem and stiffer suspension set-ups will be required. Also their new aerodynamical concept lets one assume that there is some knowledge that others probably do not have in that extent. While Ferrari has a new aero-concept, Red Bull has the most extreme solutions i think. And i assume they went extreme at the right areas of the car.

Alpine, Aston Martin, Haas, Alfa, Alpha Tauri - i think they all went in the right direction and it will depend on the track who of them does better.

McLaren and Mercedes i think, have a disadvantage because of their aero-concept. But especially Mercedes still has an advantage in other areas and McLaren, as Mercedes, got a concept with some disadvantages very efficient. Thats why i think McLaren and Mercedes will be the teams behind Ferrari and Red Bull.

Williams has a wrong concept and has not catched up in a lot of other areas, so i think they will be at the back.

But its all guessing...no team showed their real potential. But in Bahrain there certainly will be more answears. And for sure some updates on the cars.

Fernando is the top most category. All other categories comes next. He doesn't have a top car.

Imagine an incident where 5 protagonists from five teams coming together in freak incidents quite often. This forum would be burning with mods pulling their hairs. :D
