Im going to go ahead and throw my hat early. This car will be behind Mercedes, RB, Mclaren, and Ferrari atleast. Possibly behind AT as well. Should be ahead of AR, AM, Haas, and Williams. So basically P6 WCC.

So you're saying the CAP will have little to no effect on how they finish ?
Yes because it's not just about budget cap, it's also about engineering talent and the Enstone team worries me...Musical chairs leadership, boring looking car, rumors of a struggle with the new fuel and PU. Can't make a DRS work. Burn the whole car down to the ground in Barcelona.... Good grief.
Well that just Alpine. What about all the other teams? Plus engineers Salaries fall under the cap. Think the new regs provide for 1 or 2 exceptions.

The CEO said they have significantly more power and ran the PU really hard to try and break it so they could fix it and be ready for the season. That's was why Prost thought they had reliability issues. Power is just 1 dimension where the new PU is improved. It's lighter, more compact, runs hotter and requires less cooling. Those other piece probably equal the amount of power. That being said, I'd be surprised if they don't have PU issues equivalent to what Merc had last year. Merc still won the constructors.

Plus the changes didn't happen over the winter. They actually took place last year. They were just announced this year. Rossi said they were effective Nov 1st. If you go back, there was noise that Budkowski was out and Otmar was in all the way back in May 2021. Below Fry and Harman, all stable.

I'm not saying they're gonna win the constructors this year, just to early to say either way. Some times conservative is good.

Well that isn't an Engine problem.

Alpine is in serious trouble. All these excuses look peripheral to me. I have a hunch they have engine reliability issues. Not looking great.

It was radiator problem not PU after all. Misinformation by Alberta Fabrega.

I could see it on tv. Alonso started second lap, finished and then coasted to pits. You don't do that with engine failure.

Then some minutes later the mechanics where concentrating on the right radiator. ¿Pressure loss?

Alonso backed out of his fast lap after a slight error in one of the corners. He hasn’t posted a representative time. I agree they need to be putting in some long sims, but I’d rather they find the car’s sweet spot. Fingers crossed for a better Friday..

Yep, I don't this car is slow. It definitely has speed in it. On the very first attempt on C3 Alonso conceded to Gasly (C5) 0,330 sec. after the first sector, then he made a mistake and didn't push. It's important to increase reliability and unleash the car's potential.

I expect that tomorrow or the day after Alpine show a new rear wing and a bottom.
