11 Mar 2022 18:30 (UTC) ... McLaren Racing statement
Daniel Ricciardo tests positive for covid-19
McLaren Racing can confirm that after feeling unwell from Wednesday onwards in Bahrain, Daniel Ricciardo has now returned a positive PCR test for covid-19.
Daniel is therefore continuing to isolate in accordance with local regulations.
Under these regulations Daniel will be released in time for next weekend’s Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. Daniel is already beginning to feel better, and we wish him well for a quick recovery.
Following this, we can confirm that Lando Norris will remain in the MCL36 for the final day of the official pre-season test in Bahrain tomorrow.
2 things:Artur Craft wrote: ↑11 Mar 2022, 16:32Do you mean they do 7Gs on the slow corners like these boats:NtsParadize wrote: ↑11 Mar 2022, 14:09I'm really disappointed by the laptimes so far. They don't seem much faster than the 2014 cars and they behave like boats on the slow corners.
F1 is pathetically slow when compared to this
PS: Btw, word on the street is that Mercedes is insanely sandbagging to not show the vast superiority of the absense of sidepod
Very well pointed out. I heard someone say that a Mercedes insider admitted(to the press, I assume) that they massively let their true performance hidden in 2014 in order to not have FIA banning this, or that, to slow them down as they did many times to Ferrari and Red Bull when they were dominating.NathanOlder wrote: ↑11 Mar 2022, 17:34Well if they blasted ahead in testing or the early races, theres more change of something being banned. 2014 was very much, take it easy, let the others think they are close. Bahrain 2014 really showed that.
Yep, I saw that and agree 100%.
Yea, The car looks like they left it under the sun in Bahrain too long and it meltedArtur Craft wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 03:10
I don´t think Mercedes car to be ugly at all. The Alfas are, Haas also but not Mercedes with that nice livery. Are you saying this only due to their lack of sidepod?
I was looking at when the fast laps were doneJPBD1990 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 04:16Interesting comparo of the Sainz Verstappen fastest laps:
And Sainz/Hamilton lap:
Apparently according to @GiulyDuchessa on twitter there is a difference of max 20/25kg between them, so 0.6s in lap time.
Clear that through the corners they’re relatively equal, perhaps slightly in Ferraris favour and that’s perhaps due to slightly lower fuel load. On the straight Mercedes seems to be running a significantly lower engine more or is bailing out due to porpoising as suggested by the twitter poster.
Interesting!
The big flaw in your logic is just cause they ran 3 laps it doesn’t mean they only had 3 laps of fuel. So no, it’s not definite Max was carrying a lot of fuel just cause he did 2 extra laps.Dee wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 05:06I was looking at when the fast laps were doneJPBD1990 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 04:16Interesting comparo of the Sainz Verstappen fastest laps:

As far as I can see
Sainz did his fast lap on the third lap of a three lap stint 3/3 (C4)
Hamilton did the same 3/3 (C5)
Verstappen did his fast lap on the first lap of a five lap stint 1/5 (C4)
Max was carrying a lot of fuel compared to Sainz and Ham
Very valid but at least it is food for thoughtf1jcw wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 09:03The big flaw in your logic is just cause they ran 3 laps it doesn’t mean they only had 3 laps of fuel. Dont forget 12 months ago the Mercedes looked way worse that it does currently. And it went out to win 3 of the first 4 races. The car almost looked undrivable in testing last year.Artur Craft wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 03:10
But I must say, Mercedes car also(like most cars) looks like a handfull no matter who´s driving. LH and GR are having a hard time keeping it clean over a whole lap.
I would bet a very large amount of money that no team has run a lap with only 3 laps of fuel onboard.Dee wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 09:16Very valid but at least it is food for thoughtf1jcw wrote: ↑12 Mar 2022, 09:03The big flaw in your logic is just cause they ran 3 laps it doesn’t mean they only had 3 laps of fuel.
