If he is a World Championship contender he has to know how much to push & keep his car on track. The track was evolving, getting quicker so Ferrari asking him to push for another lap was correct.

At this rate, Leclerc will have a 50+ point lead over Carlos after Imola. If Carlos makes one more mistakes or if he keeps falling behind Leclerc & the gap goes to 70-80 & it will be team orders for Ferrari !

That's what you ask your driver when track is evolving, nobody told him to crash or go beyond the limit of the car and he knew that his time was already much better than the previous one on that lap from his wheel... Going so much on the kerbs with wet race in Q2 is unnecessary risk.

Driver error isn't the teams fault. Even when the team says keep pushing, you're not supposed to push so much that you crash.

Merc had both drivers sat in the garage for most of FP1 and I think it really showed the consequences here.

Any reason why Merc would've don't that in such a critical session?
