Yeah, I was thinking about that when I read the FIA statements.CMSMJ1 wrote:Yeah...but why would a non capped supplier provide a team with a better motor than they have and allow them to run at uber revs?Scotracer wrote:I'm just happy about the engine proposals
21,000rpm anyone?
Is this going to mean unlimited revs on Cosworth only engines?
Also I have got the same feeling as Sawtooth-spike: there is going to be Alot of problem with this.
What I dont get is this: if you can run engines on unlimited rpm, would you still have to make them last 3 races
Its not easy to make a 21.000 rpm engine last 3 races. In fact, what Cosworth achieved before leaving was to run the Williams at 20.000 rpm for the whole race, but only for ONE race.
Taking the reliability issue out, lets do some little maths:
Now an increase of 2.000 rpm supposing we maintain the same Mean pressure (let me lie a little bit here) is:
Thats an increase of more than 80HP in peak power... can be compared to having a full time running KERS (I know, I know peak doesnt mean constant but just to have the numbers in our head)
If I knew some investors I would try to convince them and I would go for the cap + a Cosworth engine
