For me the anomaly is redbull… they’ve carried less downforce all season, and their s2 seems to suggest they’ve done the same thus far this weekend - but have highest % at full throttle. How does that work? Unless Ferrari is lifting/coasting more but still producing the laptimes? The telemetry doesn’t support that either. Anyone smarter than me that can help?
They have added more DF to their car via dirty downforce (wing), but their car simply produces less downforce overall than the Ferrari, has done so since the start of the season (I've been saying this since then).
As I wrote in the thread after France, they are forced to run lower downforce packages because their car doesn't generate enough efficient DF to go the other route. They are great in that they designed suspension and chassis that can support that well, but on heavy DF tracks they are at a disadvantage, they know that as well.
