Well, congrats to Russell. That came literally out of nowhere. The Ferraris and especially Leclerc clearly under-performed today because i can not see a legal way for Mercedes to suddenly gain such an enormous amount of pace overnight. Russell will have to defend like Alonso last year to keep the Ferraris behind him. Hoping for an exciting race. Shame that Leclerc crashed last week because the way the grid is set up it would have closed the championship right back up.
As a Merc fan, I wish that's not the case but you're probably right. The rest of the top ten are too close to Ferrari on a track that one would expect them to be out of sight.

=D> Congratulations to Russel on that very impressive lap! Didn't notice how many outlaps they did so maybe Merc has understood their tyres a bit more? It could be a very interesting race if the Ferrari boys don't clear George quick but still it has presented them a golden opportunity to gain some points over RB! :D
I would imagine they will be past by the end of lap 2, as it takes 2-3 laps for Russell's tyres to get in the window.
Probably dragged off the line by one, but as the race progresses he will come back into it.

Another race that can easily be decided by the timing of a safety car

Serious question but what “proof” would satisfy you that any teams floor was flexing? A signed confession from a TP? A video of a teams floor flexing? This is F1 so unless something is blatantly obvious on TV coverage you’re never ever going to get definitive “proof” of a team circumnavigating the rules.
There were reports from the fia during the team principals meeting that they found 2 teams exploiting. Rb and ferrari are the most vocal against the td.... connect the dots
But they aren't opposed to the TD, they are opposed to the 2023 rules change.
They are opposed to both

Absolute idiots on here still salty about Abu Dhabi, Max was ahead of both Ferrari and Merc in Q1 and Q2, he would have been on for pole here, at one of RB's worst tracks.
The technical issue cost him a chance at pole but let's not forget that his mistake in turn 2 is the reason he's starting in P10.

Even without max's mistake in his first attempt in Q3, he was going to be behind as S2 and S3 times were slower.

Ferrari did Q1 and half of Q2 with the same tires too... Enough with the what ifs.

No they are absolutely not, both teams said the TD will do nothing to them. In fact that's the reasoning from Ferrari and RBR as to why 2023 rule change is unnecessary, they already have the TD with the new sensors.

Russells podium to lose tomorrow. I really dont think the car has the pace for the win, which would be nice to see Russell take his first win.

Ferrari's weekend to make good gains on both the WCC points and the WDC for Charles to pull back a few points to Max. its Charles' time to make up for last weekend now and claw back 10-13points to Max.

Redbull need a miracle tomorrow in the race. Pace wise they seem to have a good car but be interesting to see how well they can get back through the field.

I’m glad Max isn’t on pole as it would have been an overachievement yet again (in terms of pure car pace), like too many times already this season due to Ferrari mishaps. Ferrari struggled with tyres and underperformed today.

If it rained, Max would have a chance. I can maybe see P5 as his best result.

I would still not rule him out for the win though. His problem will be the Alpine's, which usually make it difficult to pass.

Anything can happen. Could be chaos at the first corner like last year. Safety cars could be a player tomorrow. As you say, could even take a intense shower to chance things.

Max was looking good for Pole today. Just rotten luck. But it's about time for some gremlins to creep in for Redbull, hence my bet on a gearbox issue tomorrow.

The only way Max wins this is a big pile up at the start with top 3 disqualifying at the very least.

Agree with that. Would take a miracle, or get very lucky with a safety car. I think a podium is just about within reach for him.
