Seems Angela Cullen has left Merc/Lewis to pursue other things

Seems like a very significant departure. End of an era
It's strange that she left after a bad race one of a new, long season. Wouldn't it be better for Lewis to work with a new person over the winter rather than looking for someone now?
Probably yes. I doubt it was planned on any side. My guess is that she thought she wanted to carry on, did the first race this season and realized it wasn't the job she wanted to do anymore. And Lewis didn't want to force her to stay if she didn't want to be there

Maybe there was a budget cap consideration? No idea. This departure is quite sudden as others have pointed out.

AFAIK Lewis paid her salary rather than Merc F1 team

Interesting loop hole. I've seen Angela doing some work that would normally be limited to the mechanics. I know it sounds trivial but last weekend she was helping to remove some of the car "umbilicals" just before Lewis went out of the garage for qualifying.

A short statement from Toto was shown on Sky F1 before FP2 saying they`ve made up their mind and decided to change the car concept for 2024. As for this year`s car, they`ll basically live with it :)

Watching the first sector times, the Merc is slower there than the Redbull, Ferrari, Aston and Alpine. Mclaren is not far behind them. So the car really has no grip and makes no downforce. Completely different to late last year, where they would be competitive in high downforce situations. It's really bizarre what they've done to that car. Feels like a half ass effort.

It’s a mess, hence why it’s been ditched. Should be no surprise by now. Season is a write off, as many knew a month ago. Everything tilted towards developing for 24’ now.

I suspect the floor is the main difference between this year and last year. Other teams have gained even more with the floor changes, while Mercedes have failed to exploit the changes of the under floor.
I would be looking closely at the floor regulations and what the others have done underneath and at the edges and by the diffuser and rear wheel.
Mercedes and the other midfielders have missed a trick.
For Sure!!

Mercedes should ditch development of the current car and focus on bringing forward the W15 concept so that they can use this season as a testing session for next year’s car.

Sam Collins made a suggestion that they could potentially bring an early version of the W15 to the track as early as Silverstone.
Would be a bold move.
