Downshift and battery issues for Max, still pole position.
Does max ever have a quali or race without some sort of issue? He’s beginning to sound like Hamilton and his tyre woes
Reference the post above yours.

There were no battery issues, Horner denied that claim. Fully made up stuff by Sky out of nowhere. Downshifting wasn't bad on the 2nd run either, he changed downshifting mode to suit grip conditions better.

They must have some mega regen on the rear axle brakes to always be having problems.
A high regen could lead to a bit of locking under braking making the back feel strange which they both complained about and also the downshifts.

Realistically Max was probably 0.6 ahead today all things being equal.

Given Mercedes’ are usually better in the race it should be 2 and 3 for them again tomorrow.

Which is quite surprising really. They have a dog of a car with huge updates coming and wind tunnel issues to sort out.

I suspect the Aston hype is now over going forward.

Maybe Merc top speed/characteristics is just inherently baked into design trend. Anyway its not ground-breaking if we remember top Vettel RB years. You can win with different approach. Is it right in current ruleset? Who knows. Worse thing would be abandon your way and avoid your own strengths as tech collective.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. AST were a lot better in the last two races compared to their Qualy pace. Track conditions might play a big role as well.
Aside from RBR the power rankings might see a lot of changing this season depending on tracks and development pushes.

It’s not a dog, but it’s miles off the RB. Conditions, downforce and track highly suited them today.

As for Perez. There’s your answer to that delusional talk of challenging for a title. Max dominant win tomorrow.

Mercedes have been hiding their performance this weekend. Without Max this would have been a front row lockout. Curious to see what will happen tomorrow. Checo now has the opportunity to show what Max did two weeks ago.

Much easier job working your way from the back to the front at Jeddah, than at Melbourne. Would need a nicely timed SC too, like Max received. Doubtful Perez gets a podium.

I’d expect Russell to focus on Hamilton, which will allow Alonso to take advantage and probably get second. Third is a toss up.

Agreed, Max would've been second even without the SC, not so sure if that's possible here. For Perez certainly not.
