They must be of a new specification though as hasn’t hit the allowance yet? And even then it would be the back of the grid or a place penalty.
"As the PU elements were changed without prior approval of the Technical Delegate this is not in accordance with Article 40.3 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations. The competitor is therefore required to start the race from the pit lane"

They changed setup, suspension and so on anyway as well, though. So the result would have been the same, even with approval.

In what order do the runners start from the pitlane? Is it just whoever leaves their pitbox first?

According to Cooper it is the 3rd CE and ES which are penalties.
In addition to that a change in setup(probably low downforce, to be able to blast past people on the straights).

That's the reason for the pitlane start i think.

Thanks. Must be the setup change that requires them to start from the pitlane.

Lower DF when checo was struggling to keep on the track seems a odd decision

Will Buxton saying it’s hotter than it has been all weekend.

From what we could see in qualy both PER and VER have set up the car more understeer in order to presumably protect the rear tyres more? It could be counterintuitive coz this is a front tyre-limited track, isn`t it?

Image

On the other side, according to Pirelli the M-H tyre one-stop is the fastest strategy. And this could be feasible now that the track temp is warmer than yesterday ... 23.7 degrees Celsius:

So could we see HAM opting for this bearing in mind he manages the tyres better than RUS? who btw. should be on an S-H tyre strategy same as VER will be for sure ... I mean Mec should try something to offset him ...

On the grid, Toto said that almost everybody will do an M-H tyre strategy ...

The higher temps make it the obvious choice I think. If checo or Bottas start on hard and struggle that may change minds however

They're all starting on mediums.

Perez on hard, alpines on soft, Zhou on soft, bottas on hard

Totally stupid by race control to even put a red flag first time out rather than taking SC and finishing race!!! Complete nut cases.

Dumbest idea to red flag this 3 laps before finish and do a standing start. But the show must go on…
