I can't imagine the chaos if Lewis would have overtaken Max on that last standing restart! There is no noise and everyone is ok with positions being reverted before the SC finish.

WTF is this show..?
Why wouldn't they penalise him?

If all drivers didn't complete a sector that's doesn't mean Carlos didn't cause a crash.

the live timing replay is available now. Everyone made it to minisector #2, so as far as I can see, this should have been the restart order then (minus crashed cars):

so Hülkenberg ahead of Norris, and Tsunoda ahead of PIA and ZHO
Does anyone remember in the Silverstone case whether it was because they didn't reach a mini sector or an entire sector?
I think back then it was like today, while in Bahrain (when Grosjean crashed) they used the mini sector to set the order for the restart. No idea why there was a difference. From the wording of the rules, using the mini sector would make more sense.
To my understanding, from what i am reading, rules suggest that after a race start (or restart after a red flag in our case) if NO driver completes a Sector (not mini sector) before a red flag, the order is reverted back to the starting order. Haven't read the rule with my own eyes yet, but that's what people are saying.

Same happened at Silverstone last year, where Max had overtaken Sainz. Lost the position due to the restart.

Not every day the race promoter gets summoned to the stewards.

In the beginning of the race George was asked (and he complied) to let Lewis get into his DRS, quite smart as attacking a DRS train is much harder than an individual car, but this did compromise him. He wasn’t happy about it.

It is a bit hard to see from the camera. But it looks that on the last restart they were hit by the low sun full in the face just when they passed under the bridge in front of turn one going into the braking zone.

I wonder whether that contributed to the mayhem.

And would put both AMRs out of points, playing in favor of Ferrari (and Mercedes).
Let's see how this goes.. Mercedes and Ferrari will be lobbying (if they can actually lobby, who knows) for the protest to be successful. :)

Yes, but obviously that's fine because it's verstappen. Imagine the apocalypse in case this happens to hamilton

Yeah I question the 5s penalty. If you effectively negate what happened by putting Alonso back up then why penalize Sainz race? Give him a penalty point instead? Hard to say i guess.

And Sargent got away completely free from any penalty, yet he careered into the bad of another car.
