At Monaco, single lap pace is the most important thing; drivers can drive seconds off the true race pace and still maintain position.
That year that Ricciardo’s complete ERS system just gave up, minus 180 hp or so and still comfortably in the lead.
And the following year when Hamilton had shot rear tyres and held back Max who was much quicker on his better tyres.
And Senna holding back Mansell even though Mansell was on brand new tyres and several seconds a lap faster.

If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
