I was delighted for a brief time to see Alonso on pole, but it wasn't to be.

Perez just keeps making life easy for Max. To bin it in q1 is just unacceptable. There is no reason to be pushing that hard at that stage when you’re in a rb19. He still hasnt learned that. He is just a horrible qualifier and that is the reason he won’t be troubling max in a championship battle.

Max was 2 tenths off after the first 2 sectors but somehow bagged the pole. There is something magical about his performances this last couple of years. The chosen one.

Feel sorry for Alonso. This was his moment and his best friend took it away from him in a ruthless way.

Shout out to Ocon who must have driven a perfect lap to beat a ferrari and both Mercs to score a second row grid spot.

Not taking anything df away from Max in S3 - as it was truely epic - but I wonder if some of the time is/was down to the better Honda ERS than the others.

Consistency is what is needed. You can't peak for 2-3 races a year.

I think he's better than Perez. Let this car evolve and the racing get to permanant circuits before you write off Lance.

Really? Stroll has a few good races but they're really outliers... Perez is way more consistent and I can't see Stroll beating Perez over a season.

A car that’s sooo dominant it was down .240 at the sector 2 timing beam.

The RB has never been a slow corner car.

I guess people forgot they were teammates at Racing Point and Perez destroyed Stroll, sometimes with a car lacking the latest upgrades.

Stroll is only on the grid because of his dad. Imo he is not f1 material.

That’s what you get if you are the best. Max has built this team up, or at least was there all those years where they weren’t there yet. Now they are. By the way, Max himself said the RB19 is not the best car to have in qualy here. I expected Ferrari to take it. But they went too low with the floor. Leclerc was very clear about that.

Of course Max is going to say the RB isn’t the best car. He basically got bailed out by the straight line run from that last corner. Hit the barrier, and then drove into the wall on the final straight.
