Geez, Lando being at least half a second quicker than the whole field.. on average! Absolutely bonkers.
the numbers seem to be a bit flawed, probably because they don't take into account that Norris was a lap down. In reality it were like ~2 tenths, when you compare the average speed over the final 22 laps of both drivers:

NOR: 1:33.774
VER: 1:33.990
PIA: 1:34.530

but yeah, still impressive nonetheless, of course.

Interesting that in the post race chat, Oscar was very disappointed by his pace on inters and Tom told him... Ummmm you were just fine, it's just that Lando was flying

Seems we got our setup wrong this entire time and got it setup for rainy conditions, haha!

But joking aside, rain requires good mechanical grip and apparently the car is able to bring and hold the intermediates in the optimal window. A lot of data for the team to learn from. And it gives me the idea (or is it pure hope?) that there is a lot more potential to unlock from this car. Hopefully starting from Austria onwards

I think VER & ALO were taking it easy and safely...

Thing that still bugs me is the time lost to Alpine in the dry - we could barely keep up with Tsunoda who in turn was miles away from Gasly. Our updates better deliver a step forward as we are 6th fastest on average (RBR -> Aston/Ferrari -> Merc/Alpine -> Mclaren -> ...) and points will be hard to come by.

1. This weekend is a big miss. We could have gained pos 6th in quali with Norris. :/

2. On dry we were slow

3. Why did Lando pit 1-2 laps before the rain? Ok the new slicks was much faster
than the old one in rain but im not sure it worths doing it. (Piastri overtook Lando)

Because the team (similarly to Aston Martin) thought there was going to be a spot of class 1 rain in sector 2 everything else dry... It's very hard to predict the weather in that region hence the conflicting messages from several teams in regard to the weather.

I don't know if Max was at least (he was visibly pushing)... He was told to let Lando through like 3-4 times so he could unlap himself

That wasn’t really the case, in Monaco there is always risk. Maybe that ultimate bit, but also Lando wouldn’t be gambling it all. He is just very quick. This statistics analysis site also shows that the numbers back it up:

https://f1-analysis.com/

And yeah, statistics are just another way to lie, the algorithm used isn’t the real “truth”. But in any case, Lando imho is extremely quick, Piastri is just starting out in F1. Mclaren has a great pairing.

Do people think they put lando on hards thinking the rain was going to increase?

All this talk of a mistake, like they did it all as a plan.

Nah, the Dutch motorsport.com has an article on why Verstappen didn't take it easy in the last laps. His racing engineer also asked him after the race why didn't take it a little easier in the last stint. Basically he's saying that lowering the pace might get you out of the rhythm in Monaco, hence that's why he kept pushing.

IIRC we had a wet practice in Melbourne and I watched a few laps of Piastri where the car looked very good- far better than any of the midfield. One to keep an eye on in Europe if we get any random rain.

Feel like there is way too much hype for the Silverstone upgrade- I so want them to make a step but it’s a big ask and we haven’t got a track record of it in recent years.

yeah, he was quickest that day, but many didn't run (much)

PIA 1:28,110 15
ALB 1:28,404 13
TSU 1:29,761 9
ZHO 1:29,873 12
BOT 1:30,022 11
RUS 1:30,599 10
HUL 1:30,725 12
NOR 1:31,121 10
MAG 1:31,859 12
HAM 1:33,688 7
STR 1:36,086 7

(fastest lap time on intermediates + total number of laps in the wet)

So to be clear, ther is no longer an upgrade scheduled for Canada as reported earlier? Is it now for Austria and Silverstone, or just Silverstone, since Austria js a sprint weekend?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Norris mentioned in his post-race interview Silverstone when referencing upgrades - nothing about Austria/Canada was said after Monaco from his side
