Or the difference in speed and acceleration isn’t worth the extra by taking a different line.
Similar theory could be applied to a lot of circuits, not just monza

Carlos Sainz has won the pole but it would be interesting to see if he leads any laps in the race.

the long runs were a bit hard to read this weekend, but if at all, Ferrari also looked like the quicker team in that regard.

I'd still expect Verstappen to be able to up his game tomorrow and win as well, don't get me wrong, but so far there's no real indication that Ferrari will be as bad as some seem to expect.

Post quali conference both Ferrari drivers were saying it will be tricky at best. They’ll try but 4-5 laps in the RBR is just better.

Honoust question, do you say “won” pole? Is that correct? I just say, is on pole, or took pole. But can you actually win the pole position?

They’re probably honoust, but drivers do like to undersell. Team principals maybe less but Vasseur sounded quite confident. Maybe it is just his humour, don’t know him really well yet.

At this stage in the season, you cannot downplay the redbull. It will be in a different category on Sunday. This race is between Max and Perez.
For Sure!!

I suppose it is a race for pole, even if it does sound...complicated.

Considering that Verstappen's last sector was amazing, I don't know who could resist that on the start\finish straight, without DRS. Maybe the first 3 laps will Ferrari be in front, but afterwards they will be eaten alive.

If Verstappen leads after 1 lap, it is goodbye. But if there is one of more cars in front, I reckon he will patiently wait behind, save tyres, extent his stint and build a decent tyre offset. He will blast by in the second stint in that case. And he has the advantage when there is a (V)SC when staying out longer.

Copy and paste that every weekend

Only hope, entertainment wise, is if T1 creates an opportunity for front wing damage or puncture. Max has played it very safe on lap 1 this season, so can’t see him coming a cropper.

Wait three or four laps, DRS flyby to take the lead, and then drive to the flag. See you in, Singapore.
