Horner has been supportive of Checo so far but you've got to wonder what is stopping them from replacing him for 2024. Surely it's not loyalty - we're beyond that at this point, Perez performance is not up to expectations. He should be thankfull to Red Bull to have saved his career anyway because he was on his way out when they signed him.
It's probably money despite Red Bull being such a large company.
- Perez will need to be paid off.
- Red Bull Racing will likely lose several major sponsors.
- Red Bull will likely take a hit in sales in Mexico.
- Red Bull is already spending a lot of money on Red Bull Powertrains at the moment.
- Large investment in a new wind tunnel is ongoing
- Ongoing investment in Alpha Tauri with new top personell and improved operations.
But regardless I think they'll have another meeting on this topic after getting home from Japan.
- They have secured first in the WCC and major price money.
- They have likely saved money that they couldn't spend in operating the wind tunnel this year.
- They can put Daniel in the Red Bull seat and solve the Lawson situation.
- Perez is broken. It can't really get worse.
- Major Ford money is incoming.
- Other sponsors are probably lining up to replace any Mexican sponsor that terminates.
