I did not mean spotlight in terms of amountnof media attention. But that point you made is natural regardless of nationality.organic wrote: ↑01 Oct 2023, 19:11Russell under the spotlight more than Perez? Hahaha
He's been in a forgettable position for more than half of the races this year, often not fighting anyone
While Perez has the car that won 10 races in a row in his teammate's hands and he's going out in qualifying before Q3 5 races in a row. He's been under a microscope in the media. For the first 10 race weekends or so every F1 related podcast spent at least 10 minutes talking about Perez's performance be that good (at the start) or bad (after the first few rounds)
What i meant is that most of Perez mistakes are not as scrutinzed as much as Russel's is count for count. He's made so many errors and under performances in sheer number and these have not been all milked in media as they should compared to Russel's very few errors.
Each of russel's crashes and errors are scrutinized but maybe in a different way why Perez's seems more harsh. Russel is the future and he is young and he's taking risks that result in the few errors he makes. The media will interview him and get his opinion then speak to expectations but they wont say his seat is under threat. It cannot be, because he is young and has a lot of potentional.
The media talk about Perez seat because it's tue musical chair team of F1, redbull, who he drives for. He is also over 30 years old, his career could be declining, and there are others who can take his seat overnight. So i think the media is treating him fairly. It can be argued that Russel gets more air time to explain why he messed up than Perez does.
