FP1 more than a second quicker than last year, hopefully pole time gets under 1:11
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

have a look at the onboard it's completely blind. Thankfully Hadjar sees him just in time.

Maybe a random question, but does anyone know who the man is on the right of this photo? Folks on reddit thought it was Norbert Haug but it's clearly not. I've looked up a bunch of names from that 1999 McLaren team and can't figure it out.

I think we can pretty safely assume a 1:10, with pole time probably ending at a mid-low 1:10 or even a high 1:09 given the fact that even the 2022 cars were on track for the high 1:10s if not for the red flag.

- LEC set his fastest time on the M tyre which is 0.4 tenths slower here
- W15 seems fastest on S2 on the M tyre, then on S3 on the S tyre ... so it has better mechanical grip, apparently
- I don`t understand how RUS is down on HAM by 0.126 sec. on the timing sheet coz doing the maths is only 0.037 sec to me...
- as usual, we don`t know the fuel loads, engine modes, programs, and so forth but from my POV Merc drivers could attack the kerbs more due to confidence, softer suspensions setup for this round, or both.

Going bellow 1:10 would be mega with these 800kg cars, completely mad, really hope we see it 8)

I don't think it's impossible. Gaining 8-9 tenths on the F1-75 potential in 2 years shouldn't be outside the realm of possibility. Fingers crossed for a dry quali session so we can see what these cars are capable of.

I don't think a new track record is completely out of the question tomorrow, fp1 in 2019 was only 0.06 quicker than today and today's lap was most likely not set by the quickest car.

Forecasts say precipitation dropped to 20% early morning, to 10% afternoon moving to 5%, without downpours in between now and then.
Seems we're good, but it's still Monaco where the micro climate changes by the minute.

Late high fuel runs from FP1. Highly influenced by traffic, though, by the look of it

Hmm... Actually undercutting has worked in the past with good effect. It all depends on the nature of trye wear on that day and how much "recoil" is held back in the train when the teams trundle around playing musical chairs in the first stint.
Not sure it will work anymore with the 70 degrees warmers, only if the guy leading has really bad tires(and the guy who pits comes in free air).
All this discussion and they'll probably pit on the same lap under SC.
There should be two packs if the leader stretches his legs and is confident in the pace but if he wants to play it safe he will compress the pack. A compressed pack meana the backmarkers will pit early to put on their final set and pull back up to the train. This is when the chaos starts and under cut or overcut will not be clear.
