F1 exhaust system available - Feeler

Post

Hi all,

Just wanted to put out the question to see what kind of response I get, if any.

Due to the company I work for, I have access to a couple of F1 exhaust systems from different teams and different years.

I was just wondering how interested people would be in buying them if they were in a show type condition, all miror polished and very clean with its own stand or a maybe even in a shield to hang on a wall.

Thanks

These pop up on Ebay most weeks, depending on the team and age of the system, the can be quite popular. Your examples look like like an older F1 system, are they from a a current V8?

Hi, that in particular is from a Force India with a Ferrari engine so 2008.

Yes, I've seen a few from the same seller on ebay and they seem just bare from the car.

Other than seeing if people are interested I was wondering if people see any added value on the polished good look and the stand, so the part looks like it should and you can proundly display it and not some "old piece of junk" if you know what I mean.

The only value I would give them is if they fit in my 4 banger and give it some additional... lets say 100HP :lol:

if i was in the market to buy, i think i'd prefer an 'old piece of junk' that's been used by an F1 car.. just the thought of it being a used F1 part is so much cooler than a shiny never-used exhaust header.

Fil, I totally agree, but just two things. When I said "old piece of junk" I was refering to the look only, lol. The other thing is that they are used systems, used at a track, racing, that particular one by Force India on the 2008 season...

The other thing is that to make an exhaust for display purposes if they are to the same standard as the race one they would be the same price, and hence prohibitive prices...

Are you planning to make faked exhaust pipes whit a shiny skin for selling them?
I would not be interested in such a part, or at least I would not pay very much.
The parts have to be from the real car; best is when they were used in a race and caused a historic failure.

High prices?
No, these parts are rubbish after they have been in the car.
So they have no value for the team anymore. They can give them to some loyal Fans as present or maybe for little money but they should definitely not try to make a business out of it.
When they want to sell them for much money than they should donate this money for charity.

This makes me think who found Mansell's loose wheel nut.

That is a classic quote mep, good one.

Oh my god, guys, I didn't think I would have to say this so many times, but here goes once again. Facts:

- I have a couple of systems that have been made for and run in races;
- I do not intend to make copies of any kind, but only suggested that an exhaust made for display only would be awfully expensive;
- I do not intend to make a business out of anything;
- My only question was if people think that fans/enthusiasts are likely to want to buy such a system, and (asking) IF it would be nice to have them as the pictures show.

What a big misunderstanding :oops:

I would take one if the stand didnt look like it was made in a high school metal shop class. and if they were under $100 and had some documentation. IE what car race test session it was used on.

truth be told I have enough racing crap laying around my garage.

:lol: wow this thread makes us all look extremely negative! apologies for that! i initially thought you were asking for a comparison between shiny and original condtion.

i'm sure there's a place for that in the market and think they would sell quite well.
they do look great, and would definitey be a conversation starter, whether in the foyer of a business, or in the pool room at home!
