Welcome to the forum.

Short term like 2010 the main trends in aero will be reactions to other areas of rule change. For many teams it will be the first time that they can lay out a car with the double diffusor rules confirmed. This will impact on a trend for high noses and big diffusors with multiple feed slot under the floor. Front wings will slightly change due to slimmer wheels which will see bigger parts of the front wing exit into open air. The midsections will become bulkier because of the heavier fuel tanks due to the refuelling ban. There will also be a regulation trend to limit aerodynamic work by homologation to restrict resources and make teams more profitable.

Longer term the trend will go towards generating downforce with less drag in order to reduce fuel weight. Rule wise we may see the introduction of flexible and movable aero devices.

Past 2012 the importance of aerodynamics may further dwindle as F1 will probably focus on fuel efficiency as the main competitive advantage which will place more emphasis on the drive train and the packaging of propulsion technologies.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

Ex-McLaren sources claimed that the big thing of 2010 will be the Dead Zone... but no one knows what this actually is..

The future of F1 aero will be defined by future rule regulation changes most probably in 2012/2013 to coincide with the new engine formula.
The new engine will be a part of a whole refresh of the F1 formula as the sport is steered into a greener future. Previous talk was of a measured limit to the amount of downforce allowed & a further expansion on current moveable aero regulations.
As WB said, this will lead to much greater emphasis on minimising drag, as opposed to teams currently compromising this for downforce.

As attempts for increased overtaking continue, there is a larger & larger possibility of the FIA standardising certain aero parts, much to the dismay of many F1 purists.

Short Term (2010): Optimising car for Double Deck Diffuser (DDD) and channelling the cars air under the car for maximum effect of DDD. Also weight balance moved forward by up to %7 in some teams cases, %1 or %2 more to the front in others to get the new slimmer front tyres to work better. Holomoginised gearboxes till 2012 for all teams, means designers have to go with either pull or pushrod rear suspension till 2012 due to suspension pickup points being mounted on gearbox.

Medium term (2011-2012): Taking base car from 09-10 seasons and minimising drag, making cars more slippery through the air, whilst maintaining downforce levels at 15% less compared to 2007 cars. Maximisation of fuel efficiency in order to carry less fuel overall. New tyre manufacturer in 2011. Possible 4 or 6 gearbox per season rule for all teams, similar to current engine rule.

Long Term (2013-2017): Less aero, front wings to 2005-2008 spec, rear wings to 2009-2012 spec. More moveable aero at front end, introduction of moveable aero at rear wing. Re-Introduction of Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), but with no limits. More recovery systems overall, such as HERS as well. New engines from 2012/2013. Possible new engine manufacturer in Volkswagen Group as well.

Others: Tracks to consider introduction of lower grip surfaces in order to increase overtaking. Some tracks also consider installation of sprinkler systems for lottery of wet weather racing in 30+ Celsius sunlight as well. More twilight and night races, possibly in Europe for US & Canada and South American audiences. Possibility of F1 having its first oval race in the USA, for the USA audience to get interested in the sport.

Teams: Reduction in Resources, single wind tunnel and CFD to be standardised. Standard telemetry & data collection. Reduction in total team staff to around 250 members, with around 50 at each race weekend only, per team.

Thats what id like to see, with some things i have read in some magazines and web articles.

I think you got it wrong mate. Weight distribution will be moved slightly rearwards because of narrower front tyre.
