The car wasn't all that crap by the end of the season. Anyway, if I remember correctly he wrecked his brakes and failed to finish.

The 09 MacMerc was a dog and the only reason it was occasionally competitive was due to it having KERS and Hamilton driving it like it was stolen!

Kovalainen was well on the pace and McLaren was expecting a front row lockout. Heikki suffered gearbox issues in the middle of Q2

Why is he derserving it? And Alonso not that much. Vettel deserves it because he has shown his qualities this year again (rember last year he beat Webber massively because WEB couldn't handle the tyres), Vettel maybe needs to learn how to overtake (in Silverstone he showed overtaking, but the community screamed that it was dirty, remember he's was last due to contact with HAM's frontwing and desperate...). There is really ugly Vettel-bashing here in this Forum (Korea engine-blowup ...). Normally I'm an Alonso-Fan but this year I put my money on Vettel because it was sure that he was the one to beat in the Newey-RedBull. The other thing is I don't Like Ferrari (since Spielberg 2001) anymore. I love Hamiltons aggressiveness and ability to overtake. What I don't like is Ignorance! Webber was almost as fast as Vettel this year, thats for sure. It would be OK if he's gonna win the WC, but just OK!

"For the one's who need help the FIA has put enough ambulances around the circuit!" quote Vettel interview FAZ, 6.11.2010

If people think he's a crap driver, then for him to be beating Vettel says how much he had muster this year to be at the front.
Alonso doesn't deserve it as much as Webber. Alonso is operating within his limits, Webber, a journey man, is driving top class 80% of the time.

He deserves it, either him or Hamilton. :P

Stop with this BS! How many overtakes did Hamilton do after he lost his huge F-duct advantage from early season? And many of those early-season overtakes were also because he, for one or another reason, found himself in unusually low position fighting much slower cars.

sush your noise. i cant believe the things i read on here.
look back at ANY og seasons in f1...nobody has anywhere near the amount of highlights from overtaking etc as he does...say what you like about him, but dont say his overtaking ability's is BS.

answer my question, do not make subjective statements. I do not question his overtaking abilities. The BS was about the fan-boys making the noise. Besides, look back at the past and tell me what do you prefer: a much faster car overtaking slower cars (what LH typically do) or overtaking of direct WDC contenders with more or less equal cars? I would do for the latter. Just look at Hakkinnen-Scummy, Alonso-Schummy, Hill-Schumy, JV-Schummy battles among the more recent examples. Not to mention other great fights from more distant past. It is completely different from LH overtaking Petrov fro example (no offence here)

How ironic that Fred put the pass on the Boss that sealed his demise
Let me state that differently. When Fred scared the pants off the boss (the king of the late-breakers) his nuts must have receded from the week before. He still has a chance, but not a very realistic one
I gave him a mulligan for the one last week. This time it was a racing pass (nothing spectacular about it but meaningful) He just missed the apex by a lot. Ahh he has a shot at redemption. I hope he goes out and gets it on in this race. I admire the hell out of him and;
It ain’t over until it is over.

To be fair, Hamilton overtook all of his direct competitors this year, Vettel, Webber, Alonso, Massa, Button, all of them, some multiple times.

Vettel in China (twice, one of which was a double overtake)
Webber in Australia, China twice (Canada doesn't even have to count, nor the German start)
Alonso in Canada
Massa in Australia twice
Button in Australia, Turkey

... off the top of my head. I might have missed one or two more. I remember great overtakes against Raikkönen, Massa, Alonso, Webber from before, or one of my favourites, keeping a 2+ seconds faster Webber at bay re-overtaking him all the time in Sepang last year.

Save your breath mate. We all saw the class difference between Hamilton, Alonso and Button in Malaysia. While Lewis was scything through slower cars like a hot knife through butter, what was Alonso and Button doing ? Exactly.

Last year it was kers, this year f-duct. Right. So Kovalainen and Button didn't have those. Sorry my bad.

Take the f-duct and and kers out. What about GP2 ? Sh@t I forgot. He had the best car by a mile.

Lewis Hamilton can be criticized in many aspects, but his overtaking prowess isn't among them.

Hamilton has already overtaken every single one of his title rivals in 2010, full stop. He even got rammed from behind (no pun intended  ) twice in the process.

You can criticize him for deliberately misleading the stewards in Melbourne 2009 (or lying as some very much like to put) the team suggesting him to do so, or not. You can criticize him for aggressive / over driving / pushing too hard in situations where he should've been using his jelly organ which happens to rest a little high between his shoulders more instead.

But saying "he's got nothing special" when it comes to overtaking is just plain ridiculous.

It'll probably be called the FAlonso.

Not that I am implying that Ferrari are a one sided team and that their drivers are not treated on equal terms.
