Ferrari 150° Italia

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Ok, yes. I see the slightly taller upper element. Would/could this piece cause it to stall easier?

What is the arrow aimed at the diffuser pointing out?

Oh yeah. The upper element on the FW terminates a bit more squarish towards the middle, and the sidepods are more Brawn 2009-esque. I can see that the black heat resistant material has changed, but can anyone see the actual exhaust?

Very interesting indeed. Exhaust looks slick. But what is the big cutout around the same at the back end of the sidepod's? If the exhaust runs through the channel in the floor you don't need that big cutouts?
Cooling exists?

The exhaust looks to be a low, flat duct very similar to Red Bull's.

The Ferrari will be presented at the Barcelona test, starting from tomorrow until Saturday, will finally have the final aerodynamic (proven to be Vairano Ringon) to be used as the Gp. Australia, Malaysia and possibly China. The new aero package includes: wing, exhaust, diffuser and rear bodywork. The wings used so far were those of the car last year. On the first day of testing will be mounted a wing specially designed for high muzzle of Italy and 150 °, the rear wing will be used in a completely new chassis that should help to be more "gentle" on the tires.

The discharges are the most important change and will be similar to those used by Red Bull and Toro Rosso Str6 RB7. This time we can not say that Ferrari has copied discharges by opponents, as happened last year, because this solution was already under study for some time. These discharges will be "drowned" in the bottom of the body, specifically in the lateral portion. The exhaust gases are diverted into place quite side, most of what was happening to the wheels with the exhaust blown last year.

This solution, also used by other teams, is mainly due to new regulations governing the rear of the car. Those rules have not banned, only double speakers but have also introduced restrictions in the "windows" that some teams had opened their surfaces of the extractors, with the excuse of passing the electric pole of the starter. That approach would maximize the flow of exhaust gas in the area of the gearbox. This year the rules are much more restrictive discharges and agrees to pass on the side. This modification to the waste, implies that the speaker is completely redesigned to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Assistance to the body rear cover, especially the lower side is closed, where they passed the first terminal. All these solutions will be introduced that will have to recall that the aerodynamic balance that Ferrari seemed a bit 'reveal precarious than Red Bull. These solutions will be tried by Felipe Massa in the first two days of testing and then by Fernando Alonso who will be able to "squeeze" more of the car after his teammate will have made the adjustment.

Interesting to see that the upper element of the RW is smaller.
Could this be that due to basically on/off function of ARW team may opt for lesser drag/DF reduction to be able to use ARW for longer, e.g. coming out of fast corners etc?

Sorry, it wont be a new chassis, 287 will be used as it was in the last Barcelona test, 288 is back in Italy getting redied for the race in Oz, posibly alongside 289 being built up for Oz as well.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yeah. But I think some clever paint job could help a lot.
