wonder why Heidfeld and others did so many short stints on used rubber but thinking twice it is very obvious you need a good read on how much lap time is left in a tyre after 1,2,3laps plus how this changes when the tyre is scrubbed or used...In the light of restricted number of tyre sets during the race weekend..you just cannot afford to burn new tyre sets just to try out something....so you really need to know how things are developing being able to get the tyre degardation out of the equation...that´s really a big issue for development in the season methinks,especially considering the balance change due to tyres not degrading front and rear at the same rate.
