Sorry to be REALLY late to ask this question, but after Vettel notched up his pole lap on Q3, he got on the radio and gave the usual "well done boys" messages, but then he said something which I really don't understand.

He said "We are who we are". Did this mean, we are current world champions, or was it some bizzare reference to a song by Ke$ha?

Either way, it made me think of this:

I think he means, "We know who we are. Whatever others say, we know we're the world champions and we'll keep pushing"

Perhaps it's just me that thinks that's a little bit strange?

I, for one, am beginning to find the winners radio message a bit clichéd. It was nice listening the Seb break down at Abu Dhabi, but listening to Seb/Hami/Nando burb roses of delight for their own glorious achievements is starting to get on my nips. Save it for the pit wall, I say.

No, I'm pretty sure everyone thought it was strange – brundle quizzed Horner on it, and Horner did his best to avoid saying "yeh, he did sound like a tit on the radio didn't he".

Except he said "we are who we are", which translated into Popeyish would be "We Yarr who we Yarr" which doesn't have the same ring to it IMO!

Agreed with others though, it gets right up my nose to hear (or see) people doing the "Look how wonderful I am" bit. Oscar night often shows this too with people clapping when their own name is read out as a nominee! It's simply not cricket!

I don't mind hearing people genuinely overwhelmed or excited by a particular achievement, and it made me smile when JB sang "we are the champions", but all this contrived "WOOHOO" grinds my gears.

Just a bit of motivational speak, nothing more. It's a nice gesture that the first thing he does is pay tribute to the team when most people would be yelling "I'm wonderful!!!!!".

F1: Glitch In FIA System Affected Moveable Wing ?

An FIA glitch marred the start of Rubens Barrichello's Australian grand prix, Williams has revealed.

Immediately after the Melbourne race, the British team said the Brazilian driver had "problems with the sector settings on the moveable rear wing".

To Auto Motor und Sport, team manager Dickie Stanford elaborates: "Something in the race control system was wrong.

"Barrichello couldn't use his rear wing on the home straight even though a few times he was close enough to the car in front.

"It was (mistakenly) programmed for the second sector," said Stanford.

He said the team told Barrichello not to use the wing in sector two while Williams communicated to race control by email to have the glitch cleared.

"That's why I took so long to get past Heidfeld," said Barrichello.

Glitch aside, the paddock as a whole is reacting cautiously to the debut of the 'drag reduction system' after Melbourne, a circuit featuring only a short main straight.

"We need to wait," Ferrari's Stefano Domenicali is quoted by Turun Sanomat, while Red Bull boss Christian Horner commented: "It didn't have much effect but it's too early to evaluate."

Fernando Alonso told La Stampa: "The wing helped me to pass Rosberg, but not Button. If the pace gap between the cars is 2-3 tenths only, it's not enough to pass."

Come on guys, "we are who we are" was a clear rebuttal for the "they're only a soft drinks company" gibe.

I thought Horner's reaction was priceless. I'd happily hear more motivational BS from drivers so we can get that sort or reaction from their teams!

By the way, does anyone think they get coaching in that sort of language from Tom Cruise? Every film he does has a scene where he does that sort of vommit inducing pep talk.
