I doubt it to be honest – one more set of softs used, and that was a perfect lap against a pair of fairly-okay laps.Pierce89 wrote:Fred out qualifies a Mclaren. Now, with his superior race pace, it's on baby!!

Only due to KERS failure on Vettel's car. Webber should enjoy the day, there will not be many.zgred wrote:Finally someone else on the pole.
Eating their words! There are quite a lot of words so they'll be a while.donskar wrote:And where are all the anti-Ferrari posters who vow that the FIA always supports Ferrari?

When interviewed Button said he had a very good lap. Alonso deserves credit for putting together a great lap. I do agree I think that his tyre usage may compromise his race!beelsebob wrote:I doubt it to be honest – one more set of softs used, and that was a perfect lap against a pair of fairly-okay laps.Pierce89 wrote:Fred out qualifies a Mclaren. Michael Schumacher is the one with a brand new set of softs + he has free choice on tyres to use for the start of the race-eg he can use a sticker set of prime tyres to go into the race.Did someone see the grin in his face when asked how many fresh sets of tyres he still has?.. maybe it´s time for the first podium for Mercedes ...as both drivers are raving about their race pace.bomz_za wrote:Are any of the top 10 keeping a set of soft's for the race?
I think Schumacher might have a chance for a podium, he needs to make positions on the start and a clean race.marcush. wrote:Michael Schumacher is the one with a brand new set of softs + he has free choice on tyres to use for the start of the race-eg he can use a sticker set of prime tyres to go into the race.Did someone see the grin in his face when asked how many fresh sets of tyres he still has?.. maybe it´s time for the first podium for Mercedes ...as both drivers are raving about their race pace.bomz_za wrote:Are any of the top 10 keeping a set of soft's for the race?
Yep, alonso's lap was spectacular, I wouldn't have believed the ferrari could get within 0.5 of the McLaren at the start of the session.Tazio wrote:When interviewed Button said he had a very good lap. On the contrary, we're likely to see him drop positions on the start – he'll likely start on hards. That'll put him out of sync, and in clean air to use his extra set of softs. I expect we'll see him come through, but it'll be mid way through to late on that we see it happen.bomz_za wrote:I think Schumacher might have a chance for a podium, he needs to make positions on the start and a clean race.marcush. wrote:Michael Schumacher is the one with a brand new set of softs + he has free choice on tyres to use for the start of the race-eg he can use a sticker set of prime tyres to go into the race.Did someone see the grin in his face when asked how many fresh sets of tyres he still has?.. maybe it´s time for the first podium for Mercedes ...as both drivers are raving about their race pace.bomz_za wrote:Are any of the top 10 keeping a set of soft's for the race?
Problem for Nando in previous races was getting caught in traffic early in the race due to grid position + poor starts. Ferrari race pace has generally been quite good, certainly up there with Mclaren. He's in a slightly better position this time in that he's 1 place higher, but he does need to nail the start (getting Vettel on the start is a real possiblity for both him and Hamilton if his KERS problem is not sorted).beelsebob wrote:I doubt it to be honest – one more set of softs used, and that was a perfect lap against a pair of fairly-okay laps.Pierce89 wrote:Fred out qualifies a Mclaren. Podium is too much. Good strategy and using your tyres well can only help you so much. His position with regard to tyres is not THAT much better than the Red Bulls r the Mclarens , and starting 10th means he could get caught up in lots of midfield battles.bomz_za wrote:I think Schumacher might have a chance for a podium, he needs to make positions on the start and a clean race.marcush. wrote:Michael Schumacher is the one with a brand new set of softs + he has free choice on tyres to use for the start of the race-eg he can use a sticker set of prime tyres to go into the race.Did someone see the grin in his face when asked how many fresh sets of tyres he still has?.. maybe it´s time for the first podium for Mercedes ...as both drivers are raving about their race pace.bomz_za wrote:Are any of the top 10 keeping a set of soft's for the race?
