Did Hamilton set a second decently fast lap in Q1 btw – he was fully off the track at turn 8 on his quickest... Just wondering about any possibility he might get protested.

No mention of Red Bull favouring Vettel either!
There's no doubt in my mind that Vettel is favored by RBR. Just don't feel the need to say so all the time.

I think the extent of the favouring is vastly over played though.

How do you conclude he outqualified McLaren? Hamilton is still ahead of him, no?

I want to believe it, but I'm not so sure about that superior race pace either.

It's hard to quantify things like that, I guess.

The one thing Fred has in his favour is that Hamilton Hamiltarded his tyre on his cool down lap.

It is not a huge problem really (apparently). They can rebalence the wheel.

Only due to KERS failure on Vettel's car. Webber should enjoy the day, there will not be many.

They can't "unsquare" it though- sad thing, that flat spot will always be the vulnerable area for another lock-up

The flat spot affecting the car is overblown. Hamilton flat spotted even worse in china and still went on to overtake and to win the race.

The car will be ok. It wont be on the car for long either as the degradation is so bad.

Alonso is in an interesting position beside hamilton on the grid. He has one less soft tyre, but i think ferrari have the car all setup for long run and hard tyre.
Massa didn't even seem to care about q3 that much either.
Wonder what they can pull out of the bag.
For Sure!!

Hamilton will probably get a better run off the line due to being on the clean side, but the Ferrari race setup could indeed be worrying.

I think it's less about not caring, and more about not having the pace – he's been consistently nearly a second slower than Alonso all weekend.

That post qualifying conference was hilarious. Webber's face was so screwed up.

Webber feeling good about his pole position, beating teammate fair and square:

Yep good lap, did everything right. Now for tomorrow.

Vettel: well i din't have kers obviously. It's worth half a second around here.

webber doing the maths ( 5 - 2 = 3.... seb pole = 3 tenths faster....)

yes
Oh? Really? I don't fully understand the restrictions of parc ferme; but shouldn't that also be under parc ferme?

I thought it was a very entertaining, and eventful Quali. As for Mike, (and I really like the guy) I could see this whole thing blow up in his face. "The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men" and the rest of that stuff
If he can keep out of trouble early, and maybe have some misfortune in front of him he will be in the pound seats IMO.
