You would have a nice pay out if your money goes on Alonso and he would make it. The other side of the coin is a probability of 90% that you will loose that money. The joys of betting. ;-)

I like to take my chances. ;)

Ferrari, even if they are where they are, will make a fight back for sure. And if Alonso continues his superior form from last season and Ferrari sorts out all the teething problems, then who knows. We might have a repeat of 2010, only this time Alonso clinching the title at the end. I may be a bit too optimistic, but it does sound great, no? :D

Nothing wrong with taking a calculated risk. A volatile venture with high (calculated!) risk usually yields high rewards if it pays of. I put 500USD on Button winning it for some bizarre reason in December 2008. I had just been ridiculing my friend for keeping faith in Button despite only getting 3 (I think?) points in 2008. I think I just wanted to hedge myself against karma :P

To be honest - I honestly don't remember. Maybe WB has historical records?

ImageTo be honest, 8.6:1 on button might not be a horrific bet.

I only started records in 2009 and late in the season. :(

two each way bets for me
button @15/2
massa @100/1

twinkletoes likes to rack up the points and the car looks there abouts

if the ferrari comes good massa is actually pretty fast , and he is fighting for his seat

With the loss of EBD the car might suit Massa more actually since i think he has a driving style more oversteer based then Alonso who i think likes to have a more understeery car by nature.

Not that any of them wants oversteer or understeer but balance wise.

Not with Alonso #1 at Ferrari. It would be a waste of money. You better put it all on Button. Button will be allowed to win at McLaren which may again be their downfall. It all looks pretty good for Vettel and Red Bull. And perhaps this is the year when we will find out how good Rosberg is. Will Mercedes give him #1 status?

lebesset - how is that an "each way bet?" an each way bet usually entails betting on the two most likely outcomes. Then youre likely to get one right.

Massa is a bit Button-like. He Wants a stable rear (which people often call "understeer.")

in the uk an each way bet means half your money goes on ..to win ....and half goes on ..to place [ top 3 here ]

whereas my bet on button is that I think that he has a real chance of finishing top 3 , massa is a long shot in case the ferrari gamble comes off and it becomes top car

I see. I've never bet on those things - I have one rule which I follow in investing and/or gambling - if I don't understand it; I don't do it. :P
