They raced the same exhaust in spain as in China/Bahrain/Malaysia

The right side is their "default" exhaust seen since preseason

Left side is their hot weather configuration, also seen in preseason testing

Maybe they still need time to sort out the new MacExhaust.

Interesting picture. That is definitely two different solutions right there. The launch spec and the newer spec(no McLaren style) Was this picture from the race or from FP or Quali?

Can it be from Quali? I dont know the rules but i just assumed the car most be the same on both sides. Also tjhe image can be a mirror, or i mean 2 images put together.

That is a brave thing to say around here : don't even hint at asymmetry, or you'll have everyone shouting about it!

McLaren are a particular magnet for the fans of Asymmetrical aero :

Nope. Look for any other angle. The 2009 McLaren was assymetrical for just about every race

I would say definitely not. NextGen Auto doesn't do that to pictures and I've found some others that show they were running the Australia spec in the China race, at least on one side.

What would they find out with running one of each ? I mean it cant be as simple as running both at the same time would show what 2 of them would prdocue

First, I was thinking that maybe they were forced to do it on Bruno car. Now, I see that Maldonado is doing it too. So , I have no idea. Maybe something with rotation on the track? Maybe have to do something with McLaren example shown on page 34?

Maybe additional cooling is required for the equipment packaged within that sidepod?
