At least his faith in Schumacher is now paying off - the aforementioned saved Merc's face in quali. Rosberg starting P22.

Once they build a good car, Schumacher will be winning. I'm convinced. Now if only the three kings could sort out their woes...

Hey guys ..there is one more turn in this and it is happening right now:
Zetsches time as head of the show is coming to an end now...and as I hear the hurra and applause for his intentions to go for another round in charge is ....not too welcome these days.
So to make it happen it is believed he will do a lot to improve the balance sheet towards the end of the year....so you´d better not ask for any money these days...
Maybe the team is lucky there is no potential buyer around for MGP....but big companies work differently with cost ...so closing the door in brackley could well be sold as a costsaving measure..

Even if MS' last minute dash in Q1 saved DrZ from a complete humiliation in front of the VIP stand today, I still believe
this team will be gone by the end of the year, that is of course the reason why they haven't signed the new Concord yet.

DrZ may or may not get the vote of confidence from the board, RB and Small-Fry both retire wealthy, Britney finds a drive
with FI and MS returns to Switzerland to count his money. Meanwhile, Norby the Hut will kiss and make up with Ron the Con.

I believe they will be there. How do you know they haven't signed it or are about to...?

Marcush, who is the replacement to Dr Z? We have already discussed it in the last MGP team thread.
Zetsches own protege will take the helm, Mr Wolfgang Bernhard. A staunch supporter of the F1 programme.
More could have been done.

And welcome JET, on this fine thread we can slug it out without the moderator's tiresome interference, right?

@zyph: As long as there's no news to the fact that AMG have signed, they haven't to my simple logic.
-
@JET; Only an utter *ssh*le of a protege would question his mentor on such a matter, in particular not now.

But couldn't you say, that about Sauber and Force India? Once either of them build a good car, one, or both of their drivers will be winning.

And don't the 3 kings need to sort out their woes if there is any chance of building a good car.

I think it goes the 3 kings sort out their woes, then maybe a good car gets built. Not a good car gets built and then the 3 kings sort out their woes.

-zetsches boat is in question right now as BMW and Audis numbers are considerably better -e.g.more proftable...If cost saving is felt in the slipstream of DAI these days ...I highly doubt Zetsche will leave Haugs expensive hobby untouched...
the exercise of having your own team has brought :Schumacher as a valuable marketing asset and ... not much more than expense and public humilation.

I believe Akio Toyoda was a supporter of the Toyota F1 program...supporting doesn't always mean one gets their way when the bottom line looks a bit bloody.

The name "Mario Theissen" keeps popping up in my head, what happened the "staunch support" for his F1-team overnight?

The BMW board said staunch support you may have for the F1 endeavor...however staunch support of ours you do not have. We'd like to see you run a F1 team without us giving you money. Your move Mario.

Your foregoing many facts marcush. There is a reason Mercedes is in f1. And there recently became another reason. AMG can hold the F1 team by itself with its numbers alone. It is a highly profitable part of Daimler that has minimal expenditure for its considerable returns.
Think about it, the SLS runs the 6.2 litre V8 found in a C class. Hardly any outlay.
Mercedes can still ask for the same cash as a Ferrari 458 or macca 12C.

AMG needs f1 to raise its profile further. It would be a piss easy sell to any board of directors ... And they all still want their weekend in monaco.

And humiliation? Are you for real? They beat McLaren last gp! Won a race this year!
More could have been done.

the best or nothing -this is their own aim ...at least when it comes to marketing..I´m asking what can be sold -turned into money -from all the expenditures stemming from MGP.If it´s not costing a cent ,as claimed at the beginnings ,fair enough but Icannot see many new sponsors either and so the raise in income can only stem from points bagged ,constructors ranking ,and a good contract with Mr.E all of this did not materialise yet...but additional top brass employees ,increase of staff all around as well. so it very much looks as mgp is not really a no spending business model these days.

Well I guess many teams have achieved that feat this year, while I humbly figure that this very weekend will be the litmus paper for DrZ's efforts, I doubt if the regenmeister lucking in on the weather will sway the sceptics of the board?

With a dry day tomorrow, Alonso will disappear in the distance followed by the RBRs, while Kimi and the McLarens will disclose the true pace of the W03 by overtaking MS as soon as his tyres are wearing and losing their crispness.

One would assume Ross Brawn and Norbert are doing rain dances as we speak.

"Say Norby, do you think Dr. Z and the Daimler board are on to us yet?"

"I give it 50/50. If it rains tomorrow, perhaps we can keep the charade going till at least Spa before they discover your guys haven't really improved the car all that much since you got it from Honda."
