[.............] In reference to the fuel...Shell always aims at testing new chemicals/energy compounds all the time at Ferrari...however with the regulations as they are its near impossible to gain a "real" advantage...perhaps something to aid engine reliability/safeguarding the engines cylinders with a new chemical compound/additive also they may have found a way to reduce the burn rate of the fuel (better economy = less fuel needed in the tank = better race strategy?)
+1
I m with you, caz F1 fuel is highly restricted by its elements, compound structure, its density, its temperature etc.... so making a very big gain in this regards is almost impossible. If it was possible then Ferrari will not be the worst fuel efficient engine with its current V8's. If they can or any other can achieve better fuel efficiency by just playing with the fuel then Renault engine will not have the fuel economy advantage for that long [since the start of the V8 generation]. again they can surely bring changes in the fuel that will help in engine reliability issues and may be with a very little fuel economy but not much. With this year's very competitive field those little changes may create higher effect/result then they are worth.
And for SPA and rest of the races Ferrari will certainly continue their upgradation program in full swing. Every update brought today is the result of 2/3 months research and every team planed their updates almost 2/3 months back. so mid season break in my view don't effect that much. [as u know that they shut their factory but not their mind nor their brain or their personal computer and i heard that even someone draws future updates with his pencil in this break
so they never really shut the whole process]..
For me the real big updated will be a passive DDRS like lotus, which works in full race not like Merc whose works only if DRS is employed and in quali. and a better trimmed cock bottle zone with more sculpted sidepod to reduce drag and increase the volume of airflow pass over the diffuser and make it work better, and more importantly a more effective solution of their exhaust [though i cant say how but it can always improved right...] which will result in better tire management and more downforce.....
