Loeb injured

Post

Sébastien Loeb had a VTT accident yesterday in Switzerland, and fractured his arm. He won't be able to race in Turkey.

That means Marcus Grönholm can still bounce back from the 35 points gap, if he finish in the top three in the remaining four races.
But it also mean that Loeb could be crowned on october 15th without competing!

Things are darker for the Citroen-Kronos team who are very likely to lose the constructor's title to Ford, who are 7points behind.

Terrible news, what is VVT exactly?

I've no doubt he can still win the champ, he is one hell of a driver, but the constructors would mean everything to a privateer team such as Kronos.

Get well soon Sebastian.

Currently by far best driver in WRC. You can see that by the difference between two drivers of same team.
I wish him quick return to racing, and I hope he will be the champion because this year he deserve it.

I think VTT is some sort of french acronym for mountain bike!
I got it: velo tout-terrain!

Yes, that's it. Sorry, I didn't realised it was a local name.

The fact he is a very talented driver have no longer effects on the championship from now on, since he won't race anymore this season.

One thing you'll like, Tom, is that Citroen is back next year with the brand new...(hum, sorry, three years old  ) C4 WRC. Of course Loeb will drive it.
I agree it's a shame for Kronos, as in all others motorsport competitions it would be good to see a privateer team win the WCC.

Although non lethal, a fractured humerus bone is a serious injury, that can take quite long to recover from.
I had the same when I was 8, and it took more than two month with the arm in a plaster cast, and then you have to re-educate your arm for several weeks before you can use it like before.
So I guess he won't be competing again this year.

You're right, it does take a while to fully heal.

But I'm sure he'll race during that healing process, if it looks like he isn't winning the title. 8)

I remember McRae breaking his jaw in Corsica (and his finger the next year) and insisting in competing in his next rally, Loeb will be back, this is not how he wants to win the championship.

Bad news, according to Motorsport News Loeb may well be out for four months, possibly even missing the start of the 2007 season. On a brighter note if Gronholm fails to accumulate 35+ point over the next three rallies Loeb will still win the championship.

Colin McRae is suggested as his replacement which would definetly be worth watching.
